Blowing up Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games...
I saw on the news today that a number of high-rise tower blocks on an estate in Glasgow are going to be blown up as part of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. These buildings were obviously due for demolition anyway but the organisers thought it would be a nice touch to demolish them as part of the start of the Games. Do people think this is an odd thing to do? I do. I wonder what the world will think when in addition to the lights, fanfare, and all the other things that will happen at the ceremony (inside the stadium) there will also be a huge explosion elsewhere and part of Glasgow will disappear under a heap of smoke and rubble. I think some people will be freaked-out, some viewers across the world will probably think it was a terrorist attack that was timed to co-incided with the start of the Games and the cameras have just cut to it!

Fantastic news. All of these vile tower blocks should be levelled. Now if McSalmond can sit on top of one and McSturgeon the other.....

Not really. It's different. Spectacular. All publicised in advance. It will be embarrassing for the organisers if the towers don't come down on the day.

The harder you cum. The more you enjoy it.

Salmond and Sturgeon sitting on top of the two buildings as they come down. I'll pay money to watch that! lol.

I suppose if they cut to a shot of someone standing there with one of those plunger devices, where you push the thing down and the explosions go off, that would be best as it would then be apparent to the TV viewers that this is a controlled explosion. Having athletes and dancers bopping around the stadium, then the TV network cuts to a shot of buildings being blown up, would freak people out I think. Viewers would genuinely think this is a terrorist attack!

There's no accounting for the gullibility of some people I suppose, but do you really think the coverage would cut to the demolition without a build-up lasting probably weeks?

I totally agree, but what about the vile people in them!!.
Like it or not these places are riddled with scum like a dog with worms.
You still have to house them, and as always they continue to drain your pocket.

Ridding Glasgow of 60's tower blocks is long over-due, just like ridding all British cities of them is long overdue. Hopefully they'll be replaced by much better looking and more practical architecture. I still think it's odd to do it as part of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony though.

Most Brits watching would be aware of what is happening. People watching from places like Belize, Cameroon, Fiji, Malawi, Samoa, and Tonga, watching it in their local open-air bar, might not be aware of the context of the explosions.
