I read recently that the American religious Right's drive to frighten young people off sex has had the unforeseen consequence, apart from the fact it results in higher rates of teenage pregnancy and STI's, of young people having oral and anal sex instead, as there dont appear to be strictures in the bible against such practices. Apparently, wanking will still get you consigned to hell for eternity.

Not true.

The biblical position is clear. ANY SEXUAL CONTACT outside of marriage is a sin. Even lusting after someone you aren't married to is a sin, as Matthew explained: "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart". God isn't concerned at all with what you do during sex, it's who you're doing it with that counts.

Although andy at handiwork is misguided in thinking that oral and anal are biblically acceptable alternatives to sexual intercourse for unmarried couples, he is entirely correct in thinking that there aren't any strictures in the bible against such practices - - which means that anal and oral sex are free from sin as long as the parties are married and there is mutual consent.

Very debatable.

God allows masturbation to work (ever try tickling yourself?) and so arguably it's reasonable to assume that it's not a forbidden act. The Bible says nothing about the subject at all - - there is no place in scripture where masturbation is even mentioned, much less forbidden. However the Roman Catholic church teaches that masturbation is sinful.

The real problem is that adulterous sexual fantasies are forbidden, as the above quote from Matthew shows, which is a greatly limiting factor even if masturbation itself is allowed. But if someone were to masturbate whilst thinking of their wife for example it could not be considered a sin under the teaching of most Christian denominations.

'...misguided...' ? Thats a little harsh. I dont claim to be an expert on stories from around the bronze age, I was merely paraphrasing a report I'd read eleswhere. And of course 'God' isn't against anything, its those misguided (and I mean the word) folk who claim to have a hotline to a deity who are against things.
