Totally O/T, end of an era

Post by marcusallen »

After 20 yrs as "The Lord of Paddington Green", I am now moving in the morning. I'm surrounded by bags, boxes and the like. Have not yet dissembled all the electronics and am frankly frightened to do so-easy to do, but to reassemble!!
I promised myself a sober evening because naturally the early a.m is a big day. Four great hooligans with a van are going to transport my home/office up the road.
I am sitting here alone feeling kind of sad. If these walls could talk, they would speak volumes and perhaps I am feeling somewhat sentimental. The ladies who have passed through here; the ones who have graced the place with their presence , and the pests who have driven me mad, all are now part of the past.
Documentaries, piss-ups, vid shoots, test-shots, rows/beefs etc. etc. will as from tomorrow all be memories.
Some of my "minders" are helping me organise/move in tomorrow, but tonight is mine, to contemplate.
Chairman Miaow knows something is going on, but merely takes it as greatly exciting to play with bits of string, mysterious boxes etc.
I will be off the air until Monday (provided BT keep their word for once)after tonight-no doubt to the great relief of some.
More seriously, my phones, fax, internet will remain same - once they are switched on and connected.(Monday?)

I would keep an eye on Chairman Miaow. Cats love climbing into boxes and bags for some strange reason and can easily be overlooked. I once owned a fine ginger tom who was accidentally removed by removal men after falling asleep in a box. Got him back a few hours later but he was less than happy and one of the removal lads had been severely scratched after investigating the howling noises from the back of his van. I gave him a few quid to buy some elastoplasts by way of an apology for my cats violent behaviour towards a good samaritan.

But the start of a new one! If you have your health, you have everything end of story.
Have a brief chat with Mr Walker, get some sleep and dont look back, it,s not really about where you live, it,s more about being reasonably content with your lot.
Good luck with the move, dont forget to take the lightbulbs!
and never wear a wig!

Magoo,
If the Chairman got mad at a removal man, he would need major surgery, not elastopasts. Anyway I've sealed evrything, I think.
I'm melancholy about it all but the Chairman thinks its great fun. Ah, to be a little furry creature without a care.
Despite my highly intelligent promise(to myself) to remain sober, I have to say that the descendents of J.Walker esq.are receiving quite a beating for the last time on P.Green. And why not?

Liz,
You are correct as always when serious.
I am not sad, reflective perhaps. (That's letting myself off lightly)and true, tomorrow is another day like always. But I cannot help but reflect on what occured arond here over all that time.
Anyway, I've got all these muscles to hump the gear, some of the ladies to get it organised, myself in the capacity of SUPERVISOR! so what the hell. Might as well get drunk anyway.

Moving Marcus? It's all a bit sudden, I must confess I'm mildly gobbsmacked! Is your landlord aware of this 'move?'

Anyhow, they'll be some business in your inbox in 5 mins, I trust you'll be able to deal with it before you sign off for the flit.

May one enquire as to which locale you are relocating?

...to.
The above constructions are too difficult straight after work.
Sorry.
