OT Marcus Allen Documentary

A couple of years ago I watched a documentary that had Marcus Allen in it. It showed a young unmarried mother who was trying to get into the porn industry and she went to see Marcus. Does anyone know who she was and if she made it

Do you mean the C4 one which also featured His Grace Sir Benjamin Dover and the filming of Donna Richardsons scene for (pause while magoos memory tries to remember the title of Donnas Ben film)..erm was it English Asscapades? Anyway the doc featured Uncle Ben meeting Pascal at the airport and Pascal has brought Ben some of his favourite Belgian beer. You also see Ben washing one of his many luxury cars. Our friend Marcus Allen features quite heavily but I wont dwell on that because it was filmed in his home which he is now leaving and I dont want to add to his sadness over memories (or mammaries).

I have that on tape somewhere.

On a slight tangent. Can one request copies of programmes from C4 for a fee? I have been trying to track down the C4 series One Summer for years. It was shown about 1986 directed by Willy Russell and starred David Morrissey. Several of the cast have gone on to become Hollywood stars. A bit like that sitcom called Chance In A Million wich starred Simon Callow and Brenda Blethyn. Both now Oscar nominees but C4 binned the tapes of both shows AFAIK.

The Ben film in the doc was Puttin' On The Brits, I'm pretty sure that Marcus or someone has spoken of the girl before so it may be worth doing a search, but it could take some time, maybe when Marcus is back online he will be able to answer your question.

Yeah it was called either 'boogie nights' 'boogie nights in suburbia or 'suburban boogie nights'... originally shown on channel 5... it was (in the words of someone who shall remain nameless, because they were in it) 'A typical attempt to bring a bad name to the market'... but one that actually failed !
The plan was... get Ben at the top end of the scale, swanning around in a Porsche, slaggin off all British men, cause they cant fuck for toffee... intercut with Pete n Henry bumbling around and getting lost on a council estate, whilst trying to shoot a kinda tacky "housewife set'... (the bottom end of the market) Bring in a naive young girl (one who was obviously doomed to fail) and introduce her to the 'sleazy' agent (Marcus) who would then put her with Ben to be used and abused...
However... For a change that didnt exactly happen... Yes Ben was in his Porsche... But no one would wanna deny him it, as hes such a genuinely nice guy... Pete n Henry, yes, they got lost briefly, but did a fantastically professional job when the eventually arrived at the shoot, making the minimum of fuss, and genuinely making the 'housewife' (sorry, but I hate that term) feel relaxed and at ease with her shoot... Donna was certainly far from naive, (Hi Donna and Marcus's professionalism shone through, beyond any form of reproach...
Then, when she met with Ben, she did a great job !
It ended with Pete n Henry meeting up with Derek Botham at TVX towers... which they then edited 'scary' music over the top of !
anyway, I have a copy of it at home, which I will pass onto whoever wants to see it, when I am back in the UK

ps.. The only detail Ive missed out was of another girl who met with Marcus, but I cant remember her name... Nothing really happened with her, however, that just goes to show that whilst porno isn't for everyone... You can dip your toes in the water, without any damage occurring... Perhaps Marcus knows what became of her in the end ?

Thats the one Layla. I thought Pete and Henry came out of it looking pretty bad as did Deggsy Botham. The doc makers made them look like a pair of badly dressed fools trying to sell their stuff to Derek and then getting told to fuck off by Botham sitting in his nice office at Canary Wharf. Perhaps I am wrong but that is the impression the documentary gave.

It was called Boogie Nights In Suburbia (my memory just started working again)

yes, I understand what your saying magoo...
However, whilst I can definatly say that 98% of it was really accurate... that scene at the end was a total setup, designed to get that effect... hence the scary music !
Anyways, gotta fly.. Literally !
