O/T Camcorder Recommendation

My old Camcorder is getting a bit shaky - I understand a 3-chip model is the ideal for good quality shooting. Can anyone recommend a reasonable buy - presumably the "semi pro" end is adequate or does one have to be looking at "pro" - I notice one company (Sunrise) for example advertises various 3-chip models ranging from around ?1200 to ?2500. Any advice (other than don't do it) welcome!

I use and recommend the Canon XM1, I know a few other pro's use them as well, including Phil McCavity.
I got mine from a shop in the Tottenham Court Road for only ?1200.

IMHO you wont go far wrong with either

Canon DM XM1 (3ccd + pixel shift) @ ?1699

or if your feeling mega extravagant

Canon XL 1S @ ?2999

Prices quoted are from the latest catalogue, but if you scower the web im sure you will find some bargains.

Canon XM1 is now defunct, replaced by XM2 for around ?1600. Includes a memory card for taking stills.

You can make very acceptable quality vids with cameras under
? 1,000-unless it's for tv.
Never loose site of the fact it's what u film and how u film it
that you should really worry about.
Pre-digital picture quality left a fair bit 2b desired but
people will still happily watch if content and a semblance of
filmmaking skill r present.
In fact in the porn field usually just the former is sufficient
for a lot of punters.

Just a thought -but I do think some people reckon u get high end equipment + it somehow automatically guarantees a decent
result.

You could also consider the Sony VX 2000 at about ?2.000 I have used the VX1000, for quite a few years now, also try the Panasonic 1100 3 chip.
