There don't seem to be any proper XXX features
Re: There don't seem to be any proper XXX features
Try The Devil in Miss Jones if you mean a porn film that tries to do something serious. If you mean a serious film that includes some hard core then see some of the replies in your previous thread below.
Mostly the only porn feature films that work as porn or erotica are those that have something sexual as the focus of the story. There were lots of these in the 70s and early 80s, some in the USA, but most of them made in France.
Porn feature films that have something other than sex as the focus of the story mostly don't work either as porn or as feature films. Comedy perhaps provides most of the exceptions and maybe one or two whodunnits. This is because, unless it is actually about sex, the story cannot realistically provide enough erotic (erotic if you are lucky that is) situations to satisfy the demands of those watching it as a porn film without making the story weak and/or ridiculous. This is made worse by the formulaic demands of current porn, where in each sex scene the performers have to go through the whole gamut of positions from A to Z (and, to borrow Dorothy Parker before someone else does, with performers that sometimes can only go through the whole gamut of *emotions* from A to B.); so if you have to cram 5 or 6 of these scenes into two hours there's not much room for storyline. In the Golden Age sex scenes were much shorter, sometimes too short perhaps.
The present economics of the industry would prevent such films being made anyway. In the 70s and early 80s not only was the economics different, but also there were quite a few directors around who had learned their trade making 'real' films and crossed over into porn. These types aren't around anymore. Indeed some of them are dead.

You're right about comedy being the exception
'Case Of The Smiling Stiffs' 1975
Who ever came up with the idea of a women blowing guys whilst asleep then being found dead the next morning....obviously didn't win any writing awards
Then to see the guy tracking this women down complete with a Silver dick was beyond belief...bloody good laugh but
A good rental at 60pence
cheers

I largely agree..hence Tarrantino
Who is one of the few contemporary film-makers to 'go for it' while manifesting his expressive instinct.
The seventies [hangover of the 60's] was about pushing the envelope. I think the world need many more envelope pushers in our cinemas to capture all the cracks in this wonderful world.
I have seen one recent Dutch h/c 'real' movie about a psychotic mental patient and his [surpressed] nymphomaniac doctor. Amasing tension. Brilliant theme. I would like to see more.
