What is the intended market?

I have noticed recently that a lot of soft core 70's material is being released in Germany on dvd. It is true that some of these films only exist in a softcore version but many did have an hardcore equivalent. I have some difficulty understanding what the potential customer base is for this softcore. I should have thought most people who like the porn from this period, like myself, would much prefer the hardcore versions. Perhaps someone with a knowledge of the German porn market can help answer this question?

Couples market maybe?

Read some place (and that was ages ago) that in US p0rn, the women share
is something like 40% of the total sales.

Marketing people have stats reports at hand that do show a trend you know;
they won't do it if it hasn't been thoroughly studied beforehand.

Thank you for your reply dopa. You are of course correct to say that there is a couples market. Nevertheless, the type of film I am talking about would fit into this market in its hardcore form. The films were originally made for the cinema.

I am a little sceptical about the amount and quality of market research carried out for the modern porn industry!
