The recent hotly debated discussion involving identifying 'bona fide' job offers/production companies left me feeling a bit annoyed.
As an amateur video maker (lets be honest here, I'm a horny bloke with a camcorder & some cash), I give a considerable amount of work to some of the less well known brit-girls.
I always make initial contact with a Yahoo address. I need to protect myself too. On more than one occasion, I've found myself on a models mailing list that resulted in an annoying amount of spam.
Whats the big deal with not providing a 'real' address (e-mail or postal). I don't see how it makes things better.
You might also notice that many models looking for work also use hotmail/yahoo addresses.
So, please, if you want to question someones bona fides, don't use their e-mail address as an indication of anything.

Well said. As long as you do not try to mislead people I see nothing wrong, and a lot right, with anonymous email monikers. In this nasty hypocritical snoopy society it makes a lot of sense to protect your privacy. Of course, if you are trying to lure some young lovely to your pad for a video session then she will no doubt insist on knowing who and where you are, with land-line numbers, references, etc., and no doubt you will comply with her wishes or find yourself filming the wall.

Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
But to try another perspective: the possible physical safety of a young woman versus you receiving a few Mb of spam......?
Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
Theres nothing wrong with a yahoo or hotmail address at all, in the correct context. If you post as you did above that your an amateur, (Guy with camcorder etc...) NO PROBLEM

What wouldn't be acceptable, would be for you post a request for girls to send you their naked pics and personal details, on the basis of your stating, that your a PROFESSIONAL, with work available for the girls in locations all over the world... and then you use an anonymous address...
If the above was the case you wouldn't need to...
its all down to misrepresentation...
something that is getting to be a regular occurrence on this forum these days...

Nothing to do with anonymity... I myself don't put an email addy for that very reason...
Hope the above makes sense

Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
You have completely missed my point. When trying to actually arrange a physical meeting, then of course full disclosure of real name, address, etc., is paramount.
Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
As if on cue, an example of EXACTLY what I am talking about has just been posted...
Dodgy or what ? I mean it even says 'No Agents' as well...

Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
It might be dodgy, it might not. Everybody has to start somewhere, and until they do they won't necessarily have the resources for offices, websites, etc.
Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
No, I haven't: you have missed mine: I don't doubt your personal sincerity, but we live in an increasingly dangerous world, and even apparently otiose safeguards may help.
Which is why we have alert and conscientious moderators.

Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
Let's just hope that the girl doesn't start dead, then, eh?
Now that would spoil her career a bit, wouldn't it?

Re: O/T - In defence of free e-mail addys
A fair point George, yes, I agree that everyone has to start somewhere.
However, certain places are better to start from than others.
Imagine (For the sake of it) I owned a formula 1 racing team, and you decided that you fancied having a bash at it.
well if you send me an email, and say please can I drive your car in the race on Saturday, the first thing I am going to ask you, is "based upon what criteria" ?
If you say well, I haven't even got a driving licenses, but well, don't worry to much about it, cause I cant drive anyway... But go on, just give us a go anyway.. After all I gotta start somewhere... Well, I'm gonna say no.
If however you were to have answered, "well, I began taking lessons a few years ago with a pro at a local race track, and I have a certain amount of relevant experience, you can ask so n so about me, he will say Im good at it etc"...
It doesn't guarantee you a yes, but at least you "Began" in the correct place. IE, you entered your chosen field, using established methods, and once you had learnt your craft, you had then decided to "go out on a limb" and to take a chance by calling me, then thats cool.
well its the same deal. If your starting out, then say so. If you wanna get going in the business use a few established names first, if your lucky, youll get to meet some girls who can guide and advise you... Then, when you go out on your own, you DO have something to back you up. something genuinely tangible. you have personal references, to say that your legit. As 'Fiona" proved recently, you can buy a url for just a few pounds, and anyone can just give the address of some offices... after all theres nothing to prove that they don't belong to a mate of yours, or even exist.
I think what Im trying to say is this. It is a FACT that there are many unsavory people in this business already. So, the more legitimate the poster is, then the less there is to hide. If your legit, say your legit, and give some qualification of your claim, with your post. If your starting out or an amateur, then why not just say so... If theres nothing that you need to hide, why make it appear as if there is ?
As for the post I used as reference, I didnt say it WAS dodgy...
just that it seemed awfully suspicious, because of the following reasons.
1 ) the use of the word "Casting"
This isn't a standard way of working in this biz... Models don't do castings. You know what they look like and how they fuck, or even in his case "how big they're tits are in clothing"... Anyone who is au-fait with the biz would know this.
2) In one breath he asks for "acting ability" then says beginners are very welcome. Thats a contradiction in terms at the very least, but combined with the...
3) "no agents" remark... Why ? Why no agents ? If he's looking for girls, because he needs to fill a certain number of roles in a video, then why should a few agents, sending him pics of 10 or so girls each, be a problem ? Thats to his advantage... but no, he wants girls to deal directly with him, so there is no possible outside influence, to conflict with whatever he tells the girls...
Hmmmm
Remember I am not saying 'HE IS DODGY" I do not know. Without more details of his history, I couldnt possibly say. Nor would I make a judgment. All I am saying is that based upon his post, and just upon that post alone. If I were a model, I wouldn't reply to it.
remember when I talk of unsavory characters etc, I am not referring to a mass murderer scenario... Just the concept that without any relevant forms of legitimacy at all... Whos to say that the shoot would be conducted in a fully professional manner, and that the girl would receive all the money she was promised ?
Im not saying that this is what WILL happen... But it most certainly DOES happen, on a regular basis... I know of one pro model, very experienced, who was paid in phony 50 pound notes, only recently...
I know that I have strayed off the point a bit, but the original point in question was about email addresses... Im not suggesting that to prove yourself in a post you need to include your life history, and details of everything youve ever done...
But to make a post like that, appears to me, to be questionable... Sorry but there you go. Thats life I suppose.
Let me leave you with one final thought. back to the "racing car" scenario thingy...
Suppose that when you rang me... you had just simply decided to Lie... so you said to me, that you were fully a trained and qualified racing driver, and I didnt check you out, then when you got in the car on Saturday, you were drunk, and drove straight into the family compound, killing 6 children and 4 parents... Who would be at fault You for lying ? me for not checking ? the racetrack for holding the race ?
Thats all... Hope you can see where I am coming from,
