Sorry, but this is complete bullshit. The gun murder rate in the USA is at least twice of the gun murder rate in switzerland.
Actually, the homicide rate in switzerland for the years 2000-2004 was 2.6 per 100,000, while the US had 5.6 homicides per 100,000, with firearms being used in 68 per cent of all homicides in the US in 2005.

My source was the British TV programme 'Q.I.', which is anecdotally
fairly reliable. I suugest you take it up with the BBC- I find trawling
through at murder-statistics too depressing.
Even if, as you say, it falls below the US, it's still way too high.
