How long is a piece of string!!?
Depends what you want to do with it! And also how much you want to pay! My preference would be for the Canon EOS1D at ?4319.90 at jessops.co.uk or maybe the EOSD60 for ?2249.90. Some come as part of a package with a lens for these prices, others don't. My advice would be to go into your local photographic shop(NOT Dixons!!!) & ask to see a range of cameras in your price range. Ask as much as you can about each one(see why I said NOT Dixons!) & get a demo if you can. Do some surfing & see if you can get a better deal, remembering that if you buy over the net, there's nobody to argue with in a shop when it breaks down!
Try internetcamerasdirect.co.uk or amazon.co.uk. Personally I prefer Jessop's in the high street!

Hi Richard , Depends on your budget For Digital SLR the Canon D60 is excellent at about ?1,900.00 or the Fuj1 S2 Pro at ?1,599 the Nikon is the same price. If your budget does not run to the above try the Fuji 602 at about ?569.00 the problem with the compacts is flash sync and limited depth of field. As benspal says Jessops are probably the best bet , but if you can get cheaper on the net theY will match the price

I've just taken delivery of a Fuji S2 Pro, a I gb Microdrive and Nikon 15-35 AFS lens. It's an exceedingly cushty setup as befitting an adult entertainment professional and fist impressions suggest that it will be more than equal to the task. However, it did set me back just over ?3,200.

what nobody has asked is "What are you needing to produce with the digital camera?"
once you have that worked out then make sure oif your budget.
for instance, I run a Hasselblad for some of my offline normal print work, an old, but quality Olympus 35mm outfit for shooting sports and a relativly cheap Fiji finepix to shoot porn with Mike from TMV because the stills are only for web site usage, no need for huge file sizes, although I have managed to get a decent A4 print off the inkjet ( cost was less then ?300 at the time)

Adult photography usually means indoor or studio photography, and here the important things are flash sync and the ability of the autofocus to cope with comparatively low light. Autofocus tends to be worse than on SLRs, unless you pay megabucks.
You can of course just focus once and then set the focus to manual, but make sure that you don't lose focus when you zoom. My Fuji 4900 does that, and it's very annoying!
Apart for that, budget for a Microdrive, it'll save a lot of hassle.

Thanks for all the information. Much appreciated, but can anyone tell me if digital cameras can shoot fast enough to capture cumshots?

Ah, now what you need there, mate, is one of them clockwork actors. If you only wind him up about half way, the cumshots should be slower and, therefore, easier to capture with even the slowest of cameras. Alternately, shoot in orbit around the earth in a space station and the lack of gravity should make the jizz float allowing you to snap it in mid air.

Cheers.

Most are slow. You'll have to try some out, or read the reviews.
