Hello,
my husband wants me to find the E-Mail-Adress of IAFD, so that he might ask a question there. I read in the FAQ, that they don't want people to send pictures, for their mail box is full. From this remark I conclude that an email address actually exists in IAFD. But I have not managed to find it. Can anybody of you tell me the adress?
Kind regards
Zebrafink

Re: who can help?
As I understand it, you can use this e-mail
iafd@iafd.com.
only for general[/b] questions about IAFD. I am told that the administrators do not frequently check for messages, and if they(e-mails) deal with questions about films or performers the administrators may not even respond to your query.
Anything that relates to filmografies, film titles, corrections, additions, etc, has to be done by "Submit Corrections" button on any cast member's page, or film page if such exists I usually use this method and it works well for me.
IAFD has a discussion forum (in my view it should have one of its own NOT tied to another website) at the (I think I'm going to hurl) website mentioned by JJ, but the "submit corrrections" process is probably the best and you get quicker and better results (with proper follow-ups to your e-mail), although by and large you have no idea who is responding to your "submission".
If you are considering making certain "submissions" be warned to use a certain template, more or less the way the the filmo page are shown in the database (example: name of film, date of release, running time, director name, performers with actual IAFD links to ensure everyone understands who you are referring to, scene breakdown, type of sex performed, etc).

Re: who can help?
I assume zebrafink was going to pose questions that- as you say- will be dismissed
out of hand by iafd.
That said, I'm not a great fan of the snotty attitude of some of the seniors at
ADT either. Being European, we're much less insecure and thus nicer and more
tolerant here : -))

Re: who can help?
Often I view IAFD as a big boat with a bunch of volunteers who whose oars do not often work in unison. They may have a general view of things and porn culture, but may occasionally act indipendently of each other.
Some are quite accepting of submissions with little or no questions asked, while other "editors" grill you for infirmation, evidence and screencaps to support your submissions.
Since they do not sign off on their response, you have no clue who you dealing with and it is is difficult to have any personal rapport with them.
I recall back in the days when the only way people could communicate with each other and with IAFD directly was through a web newsgroup, and IAFD admins strongly resisted converting to a discussion forum, but it seems they later relented and went through another website. I don 't understand it why they can't run it through their own website. It would make it more interesting if that were accomplished and allow some interaction with actual performers and producers/directors to ask them questions about a certain scene, movie appearance, etc.

Re: who can help?
I dislike their submissions format- although I have to say that most of mine seem
to go through 'on the nod'. Whether that's because they recognise me and credit
me with a [possibly ill-deserved] 'reputation' I have no idea. I imagine that most
of the mods have no idea who I am- and I quite often submit US rather than Euro
corrections, where any such 'reputation' would be irrelevant.
I agree there is a certain air of 'power without responsibility' but I do appreciate
that there is also a good case to be made for the anonymity of mods.
I do know that the vast majority of Euro submissions/revisions to iafd now go
through a fairly rigorous scrutiny by a group of people who might be classed as
'knowledgeable' in that area. I have no idea if a similar sysytem applies to other
regions' output.

Re: who can help?
Since I don't know who I am communicating with at IAFD when I submit a correction/addition, I don't know whether they know who I am am, and to what degree they accept the information as suspect or highly reliable.
I find that generally IAFD is very (perhaps too) accepting of new submissions (new titles, new additions). But when you submit "corrections" to information aleady there, they are less trusting and you really have to prove the info is correct by way of links, screencaps etc.
It is this that which I find strange and unsettling. To some degree it allows some erroneous info to creep in (at the very beginning), where it should be more analysed and to some degree more rigorously challenged.
If IAFD had an open forum of their own (like EGAFD does here) where everyone could read and see your submissions, it would make things a lot more interesting, where people could add their own comments. In addition if they would invite or allow some interaction with directors/distributors and performers to clarify scenes or performers in some movies where ID is difficult to arrive at, it would be really great. IAFD has well established itself in the porn culture and distributors and performers to some degree are aware of its existence. They go to porn fairs and such so they could easily make contact with distributors and performers so they could call on them for clarifications on certain movies.
Where the difficulty with "submit corrections" comes in is with questions that don't necessarily fit the IAFD template. There is no way at present to air such unusual questions.
I believe EBI (Eurobabindex) does have a forum where discussions about movies and performers are aired, but it is impossible to "submit corrections" unless you register, which is not a good idea.

Re: who can help?
With iafd it's probably true that correcting errors and adding missing info to
already-listed Euro titles is as big a task as adding the decades'-worth of
missing titles. Neither are jobs for the faint-hearted.
As to 'open forum' policy.... I give myself a little humble credit for starting [or
at least snowballing] this trend by posting all the info here, rather than mailing
the stuff directly. If all egafd submissions were emailed in we'd be in much the
same boat as iafd, with Alec having to mail round trying to verify truckloads
of material, or endlessly making corrections to the database.
I think the advantages of having a mob [however unruly, digressive and contentious]
scrutinizing new stuff have been made massively self-evident. I can post a flick
with six unknowns and have at least half of them ID'd within a week.I don't think
it's necessarily made the mods' lives easier- maybe it's more of a swings and
roundabouts thing.....

Re: who can help?
Like I said, in the early days IAFD had some semblamnce of lively discussions through their own newsgroup site which was moderated, then they pulled out of the newsgroup (they couldn't physicaly keep up) and it quickly became full of spam and nonsense.
Unfortunately the alternative by having a so-called "forum" by piggy backing at the at the Adulttalk forum was in my view not a very good idea.
I dont' think many people are aware of its existence, it does not have a consistent moderated presence or approach.
Having a discussion forum is a very good approach and I don't know whether IAFD has seriously considered it, but considering what they have done with the Adulttalk forum it looks they don't seem to really want to go that road. It thinl they view that "forum" more as a "distraction" rather and important tool for movie information and ID.
Another thing that I found odd about IAFD submission is that I can easily submit information on a brand new or recent movie title, but when it comes to and older title a certain wall and resistance wall comes up and it takes a longer time if ever to have modifications made.
