Could we assume that this "young bloke" is the one credited onscreen as "Marc David"?

We could, but then - Andre Chazel is not credited under his name, so it might be him. Joel Charvier is not credited either, but he might only be in archive footage (scenes with Maria Catala).

So I'd rather flag this up as a possibility that awaits further confirmation.
