Dear fellow-users,
1. as far as you read my threads (i.e. those of my husband) you know that most of the time he asks for movie- or loop-titles and for actresses-id?s.
Most of them he has been searching desperately for years already!
Some time ago he issued an award for a special name or title. A user could help him, but refused to take money.
We got the impression, that it?s pride and inhibition in many cases, which prevents people to take awards.
We do not think it ignoble to take an award, especially for investigations in the WWW, but also for checkups in own collections, which can all be very time-killing. And most people want money. (I admit, I would not be ashamed at all to take awards for finding answers on pornfriends? questions!)
So please allow us to offer awards for right answers to very difficult questions!
2. In this context: is there a possibility in Egafd to send personal notes to other users?
3. And here once again the latest questions:
Does anybody know this film? Does anybody sell this film? Does anybody know the actress -
maybe from other films?

Re: bothersome old topic: awards for helpful answers!
We're not mercenaries, and information in these forums has always been considered as polite exchanges, and sharing of info.
But if I had a rare film no one else had and someone wanted to offer something very reasonable, perhaps I may want to reconsider a money offfer or some type of trade.
When you start trading information for money, you start whoring yourself and I think it is unethical. Imagine that I am here to give and to receive information found in the discussion threads and database information.
I don't think the administrators are making a bundle of money in keeping this database alive and updated. It costs money and time, and I don't think the admins/owners are really getting rich (at least I don't think it is situation with EGAFD, IAFD and EBI).
So if I come here and start asking and accepting money it becomes a whoring spot. I come to house of a friend and start offering myself for money. Very unethical, and anyone doing that would be not be looked on very kindly in my view.
Just my two cents as to what I find wrong with this line of thinking.

To the best of my knowledge the sites you mention are pretty much financed by
advertising-money; and sheer, disinterested love.
I personally wouldn't dream of accepting money for info; on the rare occasions
when I send discs of rarities to people I would expect only defraymennt of
reasonable expenses- and even then, if it's a relatively small amount I don't
usually bother.
Personal messages; click on the author's name link. Unless hidden [like mine is]
it should reveal the individual's email address.

Re: bothersome old topic: awards for helpful answers!
I'd love to get a working e-mail address from you, JJ and old ones you had given me in the past non longer work.
Sometimes I have some odd requests to fire off at you, but I am too embarrassed to post them in this forum. !blush! !thanks!

That's odd; I haven't changed my address in years.
Assuming the addy I have for you is still operational- you have mail.

hi Len!
I must admit that I have always liked the polite and friendly ways of talking in this forum, which is not always the case in the German forum of "Filmundo", which is a Website for auctions and trade. The way people write in the forum of Filmundo is sometimes sort of rough.
But you are very strict. It is my opinion that many people would make more efforts to find answers if a reward can be gained. You may regret this, and in a way it's a pity. Personnally I prefer kind manners and good comradeship too.
It's all a matter of what people expect from a forum. Those who are passionate collectors are not so strict.

financing websites by advertising: if s.o. is very strict, he may regard it as a sort of whoreship too, I think.
But it depends on the advertises.
Thank you, Len.

A sad [but doubtless accurate] comment on human nature : -((
However, I doubt that many of the sort of people who seek to profit from our
shared interest [or at any rate, the type of person who is only motivated to the
Good Deed by filthy lucre] frequent these August Halls.
The only small objection to the offering of 'rewards' that I might have is the
possibility of it encouraging others to do likewise; a consummation devoutly to
be abominated. Just because the market has invaded every other sphere of life
is no reason to allow it free entry here.

Re: bothersome old topic: awards for helpful answers!
I have to agree with JJ, once offer and acceptance of awards are accepted and encouraged, you get on a lippery slope. People will only volunteer info if there is a some monetary reward attached. Or at least that will the strong impression given.
So if I were to post a request, would I expect a "free" answer or do I have to open my wallet to get a response?
