In her personal page http://www.egafd.com/actresses/details.php/id/e00134 Elena del Monaco is listed as being Argentian.
That's uncorrect, she's an Italian of (half) Algerian origin, specifically she was born in Algeria from Italian father and local Algerian mother. She grew up there and then she came to live in Italy in her early adulthood, in the early-mid '90s, where after a few years she got into the strip clubs and local porn circuit.
About 10 years ago she became briefly famous in mainstream Italian TV against her will.
That was when her sister, who hadn't heard anything from 'Elena' for a few years came to Italy from Algeria to look for her. Not finding any trace, she went to "Chi l'ha visto" a famous RAI TV program where people can search for relatives or friends who disappeared.
Obviously the sister asked for news of 'Elena' under her real name, ignoring the fact that she became a stripper and porn actress.
The following week another girl, a sort of model/painter that shared a flat with 'Elena' in the suburbs of Milan, called the program to say that in fact the woman that Algerian/Italian lady was looking for became a pornstar under the moniker of 'Elena del Monaco' and that she didn't want to get back in touch or even just say anything to her bigot muslim sister.
If you google for "Elena del Monaco" and "Chi l'ha visto" you can find details (in Italian) of this story and even discover her real name.
Elena del Monaco
Re: Elena del Monaco
Why all this hide-and-seek about her "real name", if it was publicly disclosed?
Does EGAFD forbid mention of performers' real names if they are in the public domain?

Re: Elena del Monaco
I thought there was an EGAFD policy against writing real names on the forum, I remember for instance that a few years ago someone mentioned Krystal de Boor's real name because it was accidentally showed in a German movie and then that post was deleted.
Anyway, Elena del Monaco was looked for on Italian TV by her sister as Maria Panone.

Re: Elena del Monaco
Yes, I was aware. That story is over 10 years old as you have mentioned. Elena/Maria was outed by a friend, and one day a crew from "Chi L'ha visto?" knocked on her door asking questions and telling her someone was looking for her. Strangely enough she agreed to appear on the TV show, and when she discovered it was her sister, she refused to have anything to do with her. Elena continued making porn and refused to make peace with her family. Actually Elena did not have kind words to say about her sister.
As much as I have tried to find some clips or pics from the TV program (Chi l'ha visto), I have been unsuccessful (I did find some old links supposedly to the TV program, which are no longer working).
I still have not able to find out how the "argentinian-italian" heritage came into play in Elena's porn biography. Did she put out that line to better hide her tracks, or did some producer think it up?
I think EGAFD does not normally disclose performers' real names. However, when it has been publicly disclosed, I really don't see a problem. "Chi L'ha visto" could have easily killed the story had "Elena" not wished to be "found" or to appear in the program. The story was widely publicized at the time, so it is not a little hidden secret.

Re: Elena del Monaco
As I understand it, egafd's policy is pragmatic rather than dogmatic.... in many
cases it's impossible to tell an alias from a real name, so there may be many of
the latter in the database- or very few. Most of our denizens don't give a flying
fig what a girl's real name is.
The mods will act, usually under some from of overt or covert threat- e.g. a
complaint from the person or their representatives. As the survival of the site is
the paramount concern the mods will usually act in a way that could uncharitably
be described as spineless- but a moment's thought will disabuse the wiser of us
of any such notion : -) Relatively well-bankrolled outfits like iafd can afford to
'give the finger', egafd can't.
While this policy does tend to give my weedy libertarian conscience many qualms,
I self-medicate now and then by considering the chilling example of the
[currently thankfully dormant] 'obsessive stalker thread' about poor little
Roswitha......

Re: Elena del Monaco
My take on this is that once a porn performer's real name is in the public domain, whether she has revealed it herself or has been publicly stated in some legitimate way (newspaper, magazine article, etc), then I don't see a risk of indicating her/his name. I don't think they could claim they have been harmed or prejudiced in any way. However I draw the line when someone has a gripe against that particular person and provides her real name, cell number, adress or other personal informatio in a blog or forum. In that case the person has not provided any consent in having her real name bandied about.
With regards to EGAFD's and IAFD's reclutance in revealing performers' real name, IAFD does it occasionally in a strange way in stating it as an alias. However IAFD has from time time (as has EGAFD) removed a performer's filmography on the basis of strong pressures from that person or "friends" and "family" who wish to bury/erase their embarassing porn past.
The only people with deep pockets and backbone that are not fearful of declaring performers' real name (porn and mainstream) is IMDB and they are owned by Amazon and they have big firepower and lawyers behind them to push back any requests to remove a filmography or references to real names.

Re: Elena del Monaco
Alec some additions/modification/suggestionss in her filmography are in order:
(1) Merge BABBA NATALE and X-MAS GANGBANG.
BABBA NATALE is the original Italian title, whereas X-MAS GANGBANG is the German VNM version.
(2) You have CRONACA HARD listed twice. As far as I can determine (and unless someone can indicate otherwise) I believe Elena only appeared in one movie with that title (for Piston)
(3) LA PRIMA VOLTA DI SHIADA LEE (if I read the video box cover correctly) was released by an outfit called Living Innovation (EGAFD indicates "Living Evolution")
I have located several other titles in which she is featured, but I can provide you all these additional details when you get around to fully read this thread and when you are ready to modify her filmography.
