Can anyone explain what the point of signing up to any of BTs internet call package options is? I recently signed up to BT Together With Surfcalls which gives unmetered internet calls (providing the ISP participates by using an 0844 number for the connection) evenings & weekends. But whats the point of this when it seems most ISPs offer packages offering unmetered calls for a fixed rate in any case. It puzzles me.
Second question is whats the best value ISP for a 56k dial up at the moment?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Re: O/T ISPs And BT Surftime
0844 is not freecall thats 0800 but BT will not allow free internet calls on any non 0844 number such as the 0845 one I am currently using at 3 pence per minute (1p per minute evenings) as you can imagine my phone bill is about ?300 per quarter.
Re: O/T ISPs And BT Surftime

Cheers Prof, but Telewest is not available to me despite the fact that I live in a large city.
Any other suggestions? My brain is hurting. I think I might just abandon all this stuff and go and live on an island in the sun and be free from such things as technology and window salesmen. But if I did I bet Channel Four would ruin my peace by dumping Tony Blackburn, Christine Hamilton and other "c list" celeb shits onto my island just to upset me.

Magoo, strange though it sounds, Tesco.net is a really good deal 24/7 access, reliable and only ?12.99 per month, no questions asked etc, easy sign up, but you have to get the cd in any store, it costs 50p, every little helps eh!
Re: O/T ISPs And BT Surftime
Cheers Lizard you old reptile you. Thanks for the info.
I dont know why people laugh at Tesco. They sell some bloody good stuff and thier meat is better than my local grocer John Sainsbury. Did you know that Tesco got its name from the founders daughter being called TEssa COhen. Thats true BTW. The Jews certainly know how to retail. Marks & Spencer were originally two young Jewish market traders from Leeds who sold cotton threads and bobbins door to door. ASDA on the other hand were Associated Dairies from Leeds and not Jewish at all.
Magoo (not being anti semetic at all and in no way wishing to settle on Palestinian land in Greater Manchester) Oy Vey

Re: O/T ISPs And BT Surftime
Well, I'm with AOL at 14.99 per month which gives me 24/7 unlimited access and no extra/hidden charges. I've heard some horror stories about BTs attempts, magoo, and would steer well clear of them if you can. There are plenty of other (better) deals out there.
