Re: an investment?
Oi! Of course people still have Betamax machines. I have two and several drawers full of Betamax tapes (including about twenty early EBs). Old they might be, but my Beta machines still give better picture quality than any VHS machine I've ever seen.

I remember when Charlie Sheen was going out with her a few years ago, it caused his old man, Martin, to have another heart scare!

Re: an investment?
Quite right Vila! Betamax was a far superior format to vhs which is why the BBC still use it. Unfortunately earlier this year the Japanese finally stopped producing Beta VCRS due to them only being bought by a few proffessional brodcasters such as the Beeb.
VHS won the format war becaause it was cheap and nasty which is what the moronic public like. Just feel a betamax cassette in your hand its sturdy and well made unlike its vhs counterpart. The Japanese Victor Corporation (JVC invented vhs) won the war against Sony (betamax bods) through huge publicity campaigns in the USA.
I still have loads of beta tapes (non porn-mainly comedy and drama from early eighties tv) unfortunately the two beta vcrs I have are bust and no one can get the parts to repair them.

Re: Help : Old Electric Blue Films
Betamax is gone because Sony would not licence it to anyone else to cause a monopily. It is well known that the quality was far superior but money talks(but in this case it didn't)as we all know. Thus Philips stole the march. All very boring but very true.
