Mobile phone downloads.

Are there any content providers actually making any money out of mobile phone downloads.
After a year of work, considerable investment, We have manged to make fuck all from mobile phone download companies. It seems to me they all rent fancy offices talk a load of media bollocks, fail to earn a penny.

So far I have been with FLIX the biggest bucnh of xxxxx you could meet, then on to Symbios where after six months we supplied ovewr 2000 vidoe clips 30.000 phot images, to bring nthing.
How many others are having a hard time or do you know better?

A model friend of mine did some free work for a company in hull...vids, pics etc on a profit share basis....guess what.....not a penny came her way, she contacted the other girls who did this too and same story.

Dont really think they were scammed just no one downloaded anything, too easy to buy a data cable and get your own free stuff.

A model I know has been contacted by someone offering the same deal as Rigsby mentioned, and I also think it's waste of time at the moment.

I had one company offer me this deal. I upload a java link on pics in my members galleries and when a surfer clicks it, he can download the pic to his mobile for ?1.50... DUH. Why would he pay to do that when he can right click and save it to his pc. As if Joe Surfer will pay that on the off chance that when he's out and bored, he can look at a pic from a site he's paid to join.... LOL

At the moment.. Specially after I went with you to meet Symbios and they did nothing for me, I'm not too sure this will take off for quite a while in the UK yet.

I have heard similar stories as well, I have been approached by a couple of companies offering this type of thing but so far I have resisted, by the sounds of it I shall carry on resisting..lol

Almost every week a different company spams me saying i could ?x amount for mobile downloads. ?1.50 an image for a mobile owner seems quite a lot and i've always doubted how many suckers would actually buy them. Most phones these days can be hooked up to a PC. Surely the simple, quick and cheap way of getting a pic to your phone is to save an image on your PC and transfer it over to your phone for no cost in about 2 seconds. My phone even has a 512mb SD card and plays movies and MP3's so i can basicly put anything from the PC onto the phone for absolutely no cost whatever. There is no way on earth i would pay for a single image just as a wallpaper on a mobile.

i did some work for some people in hull too and got naff all...... never again!!!! the only time i work on a shoot for no pay is for my own website on a content share basis .... they promised a monthly income... regular shoots etc.. just a loada crap! must have had MUG written on my forehead back then

I doubt if many players will ever make money in this niche. If it does become profitable the big boys will move in quickly and dominate.

When companies come out with ??? projections you always got to go back to basics, question their track record and assumptions about market growth etc... Asking for a non-returnable royalty advance isn't unreasonable - it is common in similar fields.

Coming up in London are a couple of (free) wireless expos including , which may be worth a ganders for the tech heads among us.
