Is Tradex OK?

Post by fredc »

Has anyone bought videos/dvds from Tradex.
They seem very reasonable (35 pounds for
6 titles) Are they OK?
(they don't seem to have a website)

Never heard of them. Would you care to elaborate? No? Thought not.

"Reasonable?" How the fuck can you can you get "6 titles for ?35.00?" - I.e. ?5.83 apiece. I can't even purchase R18 tittles from the distributors for that and I'm a firkin retailer!

I don't know which is the most annoying - fredc's naivety or the mindset that thinks ?5.83 is a merely "reasonable" price to pay for an adult video program. Well hey, maybe fredc would like to get buy adult movie programs for ?2.00 quid or maybe we should save ourselves the paperwork and hassle and just give them to him? Maybe then he would adjudge the price to be "good?"

Give me strength.

I suspect it might be one of Daves companies.

I seem to remember many adverts in the tabloids offering titles at such low prices. All the punter/mug gets is a tape full of soft shorts from the seventies.

Was this ad seen in the Sport Fred? Also the Mirror and News of The World seem to be quite happy to carry Daves ads. Both papers also rant about "morals" and other sex related issues whilst being happy to publish crap ads for rip off soft porn dressed up as hardcore.

Sad but true that there are operators out there that seem to be throwing 'their' merchandise away.

Such as
Original Pal Vhs in original boxes for 6 pounds
I still can't see how they make a profit
Even with high turnover and maybe increased sales of their premium products charged at 20 pounds

You make a valid point that if these people were making the product they would go out of business

I'm sorry to have caused Officer Dibble to have a fit - I should have said that the prices were unbelievably cheap!
It was because I couldn't believe the prices that I posted
the question!
In reply to Magoo:
I was going to quote Tradex's full address, but
the f.a.q's for the forum say (2.4) "Do not name
names or give UK locations or addresses on the forum"
(They are based in London - would it be OK to give their
address?)
I received a 16 page full-colour catalogue from Tradex
who claim that they have been established for over
20 years as wholesalers, but are now selling direct to the
public. They used Mailsort - so it wasn't a small distribution.
I just thought someone else would have got the same
catalogue.

Unless Ken has declared independence, London is still in the UK.

After getting in from satisfying curry and pint of lager at his local Balti emporium Officer Dibble is in a much more agreeable frame of mind and can add this.

I too have received the Tradex mailshot and I note that it appears to have originated in Reading. Now I know there is a large sex toy lingerie supplier there so possibly they are connected. However, my instincts tell me it is some kind of con as they give little or no detail about the actual movies themselves. Also, the bit about them being top wholesalers for 20 years sound like typical Sullivan bullshit. And why would you give the stuff away when you can charge ?20.00 - 25.00 quid per unit? Because punters will buy much more? Bollocks. It doesn?t work like that. You can only use so much porn, you can only eat so much grub, you can only wear so many clothes - you will not rush out and buy stuff that you do not want or need just because it's cheap.

Oh, well off to check me camera - got a full week's worth of top dolly bird video shooting before me. Wheyhey!

I also recieved the mailshot - if its too good to be true it usually is, I filed my copy under B for Bin.

I'm with Officer Dibble on this one.

I think I ordered from this name several years ago (1990s). Advert in the Sport. I received usual short aged soft loops. I think they advertised a lot of Asian movies (Indian, etc.). Pretty sure it was this name.
