Can one earn serious or enough money to make it worth while running an adult website and how long should one give it before pulling either ones hair out or the plug.

God knows. I've always been very sceptical until a Hungarian model (Albeit a VERY popular one) with a cool website turned up at a shoot in a spanking new Mercedes 500 SL complete with custom, Louis Vuitton interior! So she, for one, is making money from the web.

Yes you can make money, but it takes time and loads and loads and loads of work.

If you think you have an idea that will work, then put 110% effort in and give it at least 18 months.

If you never try you will always wonder if it would have worked!!

Gotta agree with Paul. If you think you can just knock up a site and do a little work, your not gonna make anything. You have to put a LOT of hours in.
It certainly beats working "9-5" though and pays a lot better if you put the effort/time into it

I believe you can make a lot of money from running an adult website as there's a huge demand for adult photos/videos. I thought I'd make a lot of money straightaway when I first started my site. I didn't, but I stuck at it. I made a lot of mistakes and I've learnt quite a lot, the hard way most of the time. To make money you need to work very hard and get established. You need to hang on to members so that they rebill every month. That's how you'll make your money. I made a big mistake last year when I stopped having recurring memberships. I tried to do things too differently. I created too many separate sites and took on far too much work. I made my site incredibly complicated. I took on so much work I didn't even have time to promote the site. Now I've gone the other way - just one site and as simple as possible. I'm slowly building up my membership again and I'll soon have time to promote the site more and improve things. I may even be able to take a day off in a few weeks!

It is possible to make money but as the other guys have said it takes time and a lot of effort. It is definatley not going to be an over night success.

Time... Time and more time is needed.... Plus the knowledge of how and where to promote your site... Promotion of any site is # 1 after the quality and regular updating of the content, to keep those surfers re-billing. I think I now spend 99% of my time promoting my various pay sites and only 1% updating as and when needed. There are more and more surfers coming on line every day and so you have to keep up with new freebie galleries for them

You can learn a hell of alot by joining a webmaster forum like this board is great for getting a head start, just get yourself in the forum and you will get loads of link exchanges and as much help as you need , plus its british run with lots of uk webmasters aswell

Yes you can earn very well from the web..
But as with every business, its about quality, customer care, good product/content, a great USP and an understanding on how to sell your project....
However keeping your key assets exclusive is, in my opinion: the key..
My advise would be to find a great girl or select group of girls, invest a salary into that person (for exclusive rights) and then book in other girls to add variation to the site or project..
That way if surfers buy into the girl, then they have only one place in which they can find her..
The girl is happy and will inter-act with her members (try v bulletin, it works a treat)..
It's all about investment.
In the main, web purchasers are pretty savvy..
They have a massive choice.. They have the option of file sharing and they have the ultmate sanction of the "chargeback"...
But give the surfer direct inter-action with the girl/girls and keep the personel as exclusive to your site as possible, then you have a happy punter and serious retention...
