What pisses me off about the washed up stars of the Golden era is their contempt for the industry that was SO good to them.
Boogie Nights pretty much summed it all up with top notch cocaine, hedonistic parties every other night, a celebrated life style envied by millions, and fucking the BEST stars out there. Tossers like Bolla and Edwards obviously had it all and blew it, thinking the party would never end.....but it did. Clever bastards like John Leslie (Not THAT one) Hershal Savage and Joey Silvera did well because they were switched on as well as enjoying the status that went with the Golden Age of porn. Even fat lard arsed bastards like Ron Jeremy does VERY well from the 80's heydays because he wasn't a mug that lived for the moment.....Same with Tommy Byron, he saw a future after it all ended.
Wankers like Bolla and Edwards are just bitter because the roles dried up and younger studs came on the scene

A lot of the stars of the early porn biz were nothing more than high school drop outs who couldn't string two words together, the only thing they had going for them was a big cock. Most of that sort do eventually burn out and turn bitter, because nobody will employ them. The one's with a bit of talent all moved into production, but unless you're one of the lucky ones who own the rights to your movies and have a big following like John Stagliano or John Leslie, a lot of them are just working contract basis from one movie to the next. They don't have a house in the hills, they make a reasonable living, but are far from rich. It's an easy profession to live the highlife and then end up in on the streets of Las Vegas hustling.

You only have to see the TV listing to see how devoid of imagination TV producers in this country are, eg how many property make-over programmes are there now? The problem is that these people are recruited from a very narrow class- band of society. Its quite simple, go to Cambridge, join Footlights, meet and be introduced to other luvvies, with both friends and family already involved in television. Locate 2 gays to be presenters, go to Channel 4 and get immediate commission to make the property makeover programme of your choice.

The British film industry is just as awful, either East End gangsters or Luvvy costume dramas.

For those producers who want to be a bit daring and have something to talk about at their next dinner party, porn is the obvious choice. It gives them an opportunity to "hang out", with the low lives, albeit with a barge-pole at the ready.

You can imagine the conversations at the dinner table afterwards, "I can't believe how stupid these porn people are, darling.
