Should adult sites still be more dialup friendly?

Obviously looks and content mean everything... however

Do you think sites should compromise on the flashy look to allow dialup users to loads sites alot faster than too many sites currently allow..

I guess still the vast majority of internet users still use dialup but the rise of unfriendly sites is picking up speed as sites want to give a classy impression..

Some sites take bloody ages on dialup and before its finished loading its normally closed, I think some research was done and they came to the conclusion a users interest lasts about 2 seconds so if it hasnt caught there attention during that brief time it never will (Horizontal scrolling was also a massive no no)

Then again ive seen some sites that load real quick on dialup but dont give the impression of being a professional site, ie no real care and attention to make it look attractive..

Anyone actually keep dialup users in mind when constructing and updating?

I am afraid samsung is right. My site has previews of the movie we have and each can be around a 1 meg for about 25 seconds giving a reasonable quality.

The system though allows you to get them on DVD though so at least you can get them in one form you can watch.

Try File sharing programs/P2Ps

A much better bet for someone on dial-up,far better than those backdoor entrances which lets be honest are utilised by those with the quickest connections

To be honest as a 56k dial-up user,video via the net is a waste of time IMHO
unless your prepared to wait,and wait,and wait.
Nothing will ever change this because dial-up by its very nature is SLOW
regardless of the site in question

I have to agree with both Samsung and LaughingGravy and I'm a webmaster...

I won't use "Flash" designs on any of my sites. I'm on DSL and get bored waiting for these sites to load.

When it comes to videos, I only give one choice which is Vcd quality and they are large mpeg files, I don't like wmv's myself. I also have a big note at the top of my video download pages telling surfers to right click and to save on their own pc as I have no download restrictions.. All my videos are in 5 minute parts with some vids being a total 25+ minutes in length. Even if I broke these down in to 3 minutes and reduced the quality, how long would it take a 56 k user to download a complete one.... Still for ever.

I know all of the webmasters with vids on their sites will agree that it takes for ever to render and cut full length vids in to small parts. I for one don't have the time. There are quite a few sites that offer more than one choice , with up to three or four... Good luck to the people who have the time to make and upload these to their servers...

The number of DSL surfers is growing and as Samsung says which I have to agree 100% with.. We have to give our surfers the best quality today. Though I feel sorry for those on 56k, I can say that I receive almost minus complaints about this.
