Sorry Joe A - I hope you didn't read some of my comments as put downs either.. Just saying everyone assumes TV is less stringent or easy to work for rather than selling on the open market or passing the BBFC... In both cases I suppose you push the boundaries about what you can get away with whether it is soft but you want to show just that little tiny bit extra for the fans, or whether your trying to push as hard a material as you can pass the BBFC.
Yes - I have been a stud in most of my own films and shows but not all, and have appeared in other peoples but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...
Regards and that's it....

Roger me old mucker you are getting your 1990's knickers all twisted and for what! Getting stuff on to sat is pretty darn hard especially before the days of DVDR when a bloke had to know about station format and what the programmer wanted so it's a tilted hat to you sir just for that. DVDR is ace but it has brought through a generation of producers who aint to techy but hey it's a modern world and how many guys driving motors understand the engine, blimey I'm am my father!
I think it's great that a producer wants to pay the girls more and I rather feel that perhaps he should but as for me I ask the girls their rate and if it's within my universe I pay it and if it isn't it's only buisness and nothing personal so I wish them well and perhaps I can be wealthy enough to book them another day. Geezers however are and always will be different.
I still can't understand why we have this fixation with the US on this site and why all things must be compaired to the states. Personally I love US porn but the UK industry will never ever be anything like as big as the US. If for nothing more than it's population gives greater market coverage and then it's laws gear toward a helping hand. Meanwhile back here we can't even buy what is deemed as hard core legally other than at a sleazy adult store with boarded blanked out windows but then again please lets not pretend that R18 is hard, it's just what the BBFC deem ok. It comes as quite a shock to most British producers but there is this tiny little place called Europe where unlike the US a chap can move a good number of products just for jumping on a ?99 flight.
Roger you may recal a while back a super dupa proffessional guy posted boasting wild pricing and stating that he was not some Fred in a Shed outfit and how he was great. Well I'm led to believe that he now wax's his anus when workin for minimum wage whilst good old Fred works in his shed laughing. Too you sir I'd say keep up the good work and if a bloke chooses to class you as an amateur, SMILE but never teach a monkey how to dance. It makes you both look very silly...............

Re: 2006 - New Rates for Female Performers
Isn't it the rule in general that people with more experience in a job are paid more. If so, why should the porn world be any different?
If you apply Rob's logic on rates, you must pay all models the same rate so a first time porn actress will be paid ?400 whilst an actress who's been in the business a few years will get the same rate. Surely this isn't right?
Like some of the guys have added, if they can deliver the goods on camera and have gotten a proven track record, why shouldn't they get the same rate?
All professions have rates for newcomers / juniors whilst experience people get more.
One comment that did surprise me was Jayce's in which he say's after four years he is now classed as professional. Many female models get classed as professional after their second shoot and leave the industry after a few years.
Also, film makers should remember porn is as much a mental job as physical. If a film set isn't friendly and fun, lots of guys will have problems irrespective of how professional they are. A simple hello, cup of tea / coffee, music and friendliness - all of it makes a difference.
Film makers have to take responsibility to get the atmosphere on set right - after all in all other movies, poor acting chemistry is usually blamed upon poor direction.
Just my thoughts

Re: 2006 - New Rates for Female Performers
I think you may have got the wrong end of the stick Rob. I agree with the UK female rate increase, after all we lose most talent to the US firstly because they will get booked most days of the week and they will be paid a minimum of about $800-$2500 a scene. I should know because my fiancee Mckenzie Lee (club jenna contract girl) got $2500 for one scene before signing her contract so if I was a girl and could make $20,000 a month working in LA thats where i would be too.
What I was saying was some people are happy working for 250 others would not get out bed for that and thats their choice, also others may like working for certain producers, companies etc and will work for less than there stated rates due to how easy or quick or just the fact they use them all the time.
If someone who had never booked me before then my rate would be as its now 300 plus travel if I like working for a company and they book me a lot I may drop it some what and that is how I imagine most people do business in all walks of life.
What I will say is that we as an industry should start working together ie. joint projects and pulling our resources together. Not only could we save money but produce a better product than is seen coming out of the UK as you will all see when we begin producing some major feature films and stylish gonzo lines early next year.
Also lets not forget that we as sex performers do not have a union so therefore its within our own interest that we choose and decide what is best. We are not to be seen just as a piece of meat and all we ask in return is some God damn respect especially for performers who have been doing this 5-10 years which qualifies us to know more than some new wannabe directors. This is coming from myself Tony De Sergio who for one has laid down these comments and has tried to bring the UK industry up to date with full tests etc where as in the past a 90 day HIV would suffice and 150 pounds to do a scene.
We are all doing our bit for the Industry in the UK but if we are to succeed as a country then surely we need to follow some kind of guidlines to regulate all areas of our business. I for one will never work less than my scene rate and purely understand that this does not accomodate everyones budget. Thats life eh!!
Everyone should know their selfworth.

Re: 2006 - New Rates for Female Performers
Gentlemen please!
A few words of wisdom from John Ruskin (1819-1900).
There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse & sell a little cheaper & the people who consider price alone are that persons lawful prey.
It is unwise to spend too much, but it is also unwise to pay too little. When you pay too much you lose a little money, that is all. When you pay too little you sometimes lose everything because the thing that you bought is incapable of doing the thing you bought it to do.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little & getting a lot, it can't be done, if you deal with the lowest bidder it is well to add something for the risk you run & if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
Seems to sum up the argument.
Geoff

Re: 2006 - New Rates for Female Performers
Over the last few years i have booked numerous models for b/g work and just about every other type of shoot and when first contacting the model i aways ask what their rates are for the type of shoot in question, some girls quote over the top others are near the mark and get the bookings, its a free market and its up to models and producers/photographers to come to their own arrangements concerning the rates, in a free market the rates set themselves.

(Then came Poundland? and blew his theory away)
And lets be honest not only poundland but what about the 99p store and and while I'm on don't Asda, Tesco, Aldi, Currys, Comet and just about all the big high street players work to the model of paying out less to re-coup the most!
Perhaps the reason Morrisons is getting a kicking is because the farmer says pay me 12p per pint but the board insist he has 20p working alongside the theory
"The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little & getting a lot, it can't be done"
So is that a New Labour law?

Ooops forgot me old mate Ronnie McDonnie

"There's an old saying here....you get what you pay for. Pay peanuts..get monkeys." or maybe you just get over paid monkeys........
