Newsflash: AITA update

Post by strictlybroadband »

I've just heard (via ETO) that representatives of the Metropolitan Police (gawd rest their souls) will be attending the next AITA meeting to discuss DVD piracy. This should be of interest to all producers... so instead of staying at home complaining that AITA doesn't do anything for you, please turn up, hear the discussion, and have your say.

Joe A, since the police will be present you should wear your false beard.

Here's the text from ETO:

"As DVD piracy is one of the biggest issues affecting the UK adult industry, trade body AITA has announced that senior representatives from the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Unit, which has been set up to tackle the problem of counterfeit DVDs in both the mainstream and adult markets, will be present at the next open meeting of the trade association on Thursday June 29th at 4.30pm in the New Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden, London.

The officers will be present to provide an overview of the work the Unit is doing and answer questions from the floor about the issue of pirated DVDs. It is expected that they will also announce the results of recent raids that have taken place. If you are a publisher, distributor or retailer of adult DVDs and are concerned that piracy and counterfeiting is affecting your sales, it is in your own interests to attend this meeting - you do not have to be a member of AITA to attend. Football followers will be pleased to learn that they won't miss any of the World Cup action as no games take place on the day of the meeting.

AITA has already forged strong links with the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Unit and has been asked to assist in future investigations."

It's about fucking time!

Let me be the first to applaud this move, and might I suggest that UK producers (and indeed distributors of licenced US material over here) start having a serious look at the amount of pirated stuff on QXL.com? You are getting arse raped over there.....

PS: Be sure to keep the coppers away from Marino's van...it could be detrimental to their career prospects!!!
