Bit Torrent - notes for producers

Post by paul jones »

A mate of mine uses BT.

He commented that there is now a lot of BritPorn going up within a day or two of release.

Also that most of the big sites (and he specifically mentioned Cheggitt, ********* and PureTNA) now have a policy of deleting any material that is complained about by the copyright holder, and, also blocking the IP of the guilty uploader.

To make a complaint you normally have to go to the site forums and hunt around for an administrator, there isn't normally an admin email as such.

I still love performing and shooting, and always happy to help people make porn. Esp if tittivation.com will be an outlet :-)

I've been emailing and sending copyright infringement emails to Pure TNA and several others for over 12 months about Kerry Marie's content on there and I might as well have been learning Ukranian Folk Dancing for all the good it did me. They put those messages on there to cover themselves but never seem to take anything down.

Producers of media (and I don't just mean those in the adult industry, but the mainstream as well) need to get tough with these sites. At the very least there needs to be a law change to prevent anonymous people uploading content.

If the site has the user's details on file, and is legally obliged to make said details available to to the infringed copyright holder so that they may pursue legal action against the party that ripped and uploaded it, then I think you would see this kind of piracy cut in half (at the very least). If no one is going to upload anything, then no one is going to be able to download anything either.

As it stands, there is far too little that producers can do about it except notify the P2P service hosting the file(s), which, as Fraser has pointed out, is pretty much ineffectual anyway.

It is important to bear in mind exactly how quickly these files get around, and on how many different P2P services...I shudder to think how many sales the producers are missing out on. Another measure would be for all producers to simply boycott any hosting company which hosts a legally unaccountable filesharing site.

I must applaud forums like BGAFD, Adult DVD Talk, and XXX Porn Talk for not allowing piracy on its forums, as it simply makes no sense to steal from the industry segment you are supposed to support. Sadly, this isn't true for a great number of forums out there...go take a look at the Mr.Marcus forum, and ask yourself why anyone would want to buy an interracial DVD or website membership when you have at least a years' worth of pirated content available, all put up by supposed 'fans' of that genre. Very sad.

Speaking as someone who`s used bit torrent and also warned people when their content has been stolen and uploaded, I`d rather paysay a fiver or so to download a high quality movie or clip in say about an hour than download a grainy small screened copy that takes a week to download.

Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.

In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

thats an outdated view some what.

which is part of the reason people do nothing about it.

its a double edge sword, inform the world and increase the numbers and hope the law catches up, or use the above method.

Hi It was me who informed Paul as I have had material off my own stolen and I am happy to say dealt with. To get the material removed you have to be recognizably the the material Producer. For instance when Anne Howe a well known American Adult Actress had her site Ripped and put on Puretna I notified her she contacted them and the material was removed in less than 6 hrs. I think that material ripped from sites is what gets the best results at being detected and dealt with. Anyway if anyone is interested I have created a Yahoo group to share info on specific cases of copyright theft and ways of dealing with it. To join just prove you are a genuine material producer should be easy enough to produce.

Were you replying to me? I`m confused as I was stating the opinion that I`d rather pay for downloads legally than download a poor quality rip of a dvd that takes a fortnight to download. Don`t get me wrong for some things I`ll use bit torrent, such as software and other things. And cant you use download limiters to prevent people downloading your sites content in a week and then uploading it to bit torrent?

MrChapel,

with broadband connections averaging 2048kbps (2mb) and upto 40mbps, downloads are no longer low quality. they are the EXACT same quality as the site they came from, downloads are faster, like i just started a healthy torrent and using brute force start in my torrent program i got to 560KB a second, so a 700mb would take me literally 20 minutes or so.

Which makes it all the worse, if it was low quality small screen id be like ok its a teaser, they wanna see it better they come and pay me, as a producer i could maybe live with that, its the better of 2 evils, so im not saying its ideal but its a good option from a bad situation.

The way it stands is the downloads are of equal quality to the streaming, or downloadable content so there is no reason to pay for a better product. which in my book is worse than your low quality option.

torrents aint the real threat.

I'm breaking a l33t code here, but torrents are not where the prolific pirates operate, they operate in IRC and Private networks where prying eyes cant see.

Alot is also done in sweden since sweden seems to say piracy is ok, especially with the Pirates on the rise to overtake the coverment.

I dunno most download seem to take me forever. I`m not going to pretend I understand all the techinicals and specifics. But a 700 mb download can take me days to download and you can download something and find you`ve got a low resolution grainy clip. You`ve got iso files and all sorts. A few years ago I spent days downloading spiderman 2. I got a shitload of rar files and ended up with a shitload of pics. Nice print them out and make a flick book. As it is now I prefer to get my porn legally its less hassle and I know what I`m getting, wouldn`t be the first time someones expected a porn clip and got a virus I suppose.. Torrents I use for software , the odd tv show I`ve missed and Opie and Anthony.
The main point is though that torrents and p2p systems aren`t going to go away no matter what legislations brought out. There`s got to be some way make it harder for people to steal content or make it more adventagous to buy it legally.
