short film for "Destricted".

Hi

Shooting people, a site for low budget filmmakers, are holding a
competition to challenge the line between art and porn, following
the release of the film "Destricted".

I have an idea for a short film. I am looking for 2 girls to do a
hardcore girl/girl scene. Although it is a hardcore shoot, I want
it to be artistic and "loving". There will be dialouge for one of
the girls, so if someone is a budding actress and wants a go at
acting to camera, then maybe this is for you.

The short is about 5 mins long but I'm expecting the shoot to be
about 1 and a half hour long. Here's the critical bit I only have a
budget of ?160, so it is to be split ?80 each girl. I am looking for
girls near Derby to keep travel costs down.

Anyone interested please email me with availability, I am looking to
shoot it, if possible the end of this week, or week commencing
Monday 30th. Usual things apply 2 forms of ID and up to date certs.

The trouble is, such attempts at art/porn amalgamation, rarely work. They are never arty enough, and seldom porny enough. Winterbottom's 'Nine Songs' is a case in point. Perhaps the answer is to shoot the porn well, with good art direction and videography, using talent who can handle a script as well as a blow job, but not pretend it is anything other than good old porn.

Why not pay the girls the going rate, shoot a proper scene, then just submit a short 'artsy' cut for the competition...if you win, you could then punt out the full unexpurgated version (with 'the bits they didn't want you to see!') of your now award-winning scene to the likes of Strictly Broadband and similar sites of that ilk.

Speculate to accumulate and all that jazz....

As the most sexually explicit films to have ever passed a BBFC 18 rating the Destricted collection has redefined the permissible. Precedents establish new possibilities. Director Larry Clark, whose 38 minute film "Impaled" features on the collection, now invites Shooting People members to go one better and upload their own contributions which challenge the line between art and porn. Larry will pick the most interesting film as his winner, as well as writing short reviews for all 6 finalists.

The finalists will be screened at the Halloween Film Festival in January and will be considered for inclusion on the Destricted 2 DVD. The winner's film will be sent to the BBFC for official 18 certification.

During the competition, Destricted's producers, Mel Agace, Andrew Hale and Neville Wakefield invite fellow UK Shooters members to discuss the making of the films and debate the role of the BBFC and the place of sex on film on the Shooting People email bulletins.

I can't speak for James, I don't him. Sure he's not offering standard industry rates. But if anyone fancies working with someone trying to do something a bit different, and fancies a day off from making the usual Del Boy Trotter Britporn shite, then the best of luck with it. And to you too, James.

And while I'm at it, why is it that porn movies are the only audio-visual entertainment for which people still use the term 'arty' (in 'applicable' cases)? Do football fans call the trailers and after-match compilations of the best bits on Sky 'arty'? Do people call the new BBC idents 'arty'? Or car ads 'arty'? Nope. They don't. And the only reason they do it with porn is because 99.9% of it is COMPLETE AND UTTER TALENTLESS, TWAT-BRAINED BOLLOCKS.

Andy, surely you have to accept it on it's own terms and understand the context of the market in which it exists, and in turn the customer at which it is aimed. It's utterly pointless to criticise it because it's not Antonioni. I would suggest you try to appreciate the merits of what it is rather than the demerits of what it never set-out or purports to be.

I'm certainly not opposed to innovation and deconstruction .. call it what you will, but I don't think it's fair to belittle the efforts of the majority of producers in the way you have.
