I caught this same post on the Shooters site and did wonder abot having a go, but i was thinking more in terms of Erotic Art as opposed to full blown porn, what has surprised me though is that shooters allow these post because once just the mention of porn or nudity would have got you kicked off and lately you have been getting the F and C words on there, how times have changed!love!

I'm going to take a cyncial view on this as well Andy...Destricteds aims may have been altruistic in its intentions but I think for the majority of people who bought it was simply to see hard sex, no matter what context it was shot in. To some its still a blow job and a cock in pussy....Bzzzzt fast forward to the next juicy bit and a-b loop that.

Well, thats what I think anyway. Then some could also see it as a challenge to flout the rules by arguing a case that its art as we've seen with some films like Baise Moi, Irreversible and Romance becuase it is a feature depicting sex acts within the context of a story.

At least the Del Boy porn you refer to is what it is in all its honesty and doesnt play on being pretentious and anything other than what it is.

There is a graphic on the shootingpeople site of the Destricted dvd which suggests that it is being marketed in exactly the same way as Madonna's 'Sex' book was about 15 years ago - in a plain silver shrinkwrap. This isn't guerilla or underground film-making but a project which trades off the reputations of Larry Clark and Sam Taylor-Wood.

I'm not saying that the films aren't worthwhile, but let's not delude ourselves that the commercial imperatives and motivations were fundamentally different from those of any one-man-band porn producer. It's merely aimed at a different market segment for whom 'art' is the added value and the 'unique sales proposition'.

Not at all Mark. I applaud anyones efforts to do something different, but I think the bourgoise opinions shouldnt be at the expense of the man making his home made effort. The Del Boy of today might not have found his style right now and may end up being the next....Martin Scorsese of porn for all we know.Its a free market for anyone who gets into it with a mobile phone these days and you cant stop it. No one can. Producers might try to by closing ranks but the internet is the place that will give rise to anyone with talent (or not).

Mark, with reference to your comments about Irreversible, I have to admit it made me feel uncomfortable also. I've watched it several times as i think its a head rush of a movie, especially the bit in the begiinging withthe loud droning sound and guy who gets bludgeoned to death with a fire extinguisher. It definitely evokes a distubeing feeling and a range of emotions watching it but as for the anal rape scene i have to quote one girl who watched it with me as saying:

'I must be sick, this is making my pussy wet!' (No I didnt get a shag out of it either) I shit you not Mark , I was shocked! Thats art for you mate. Provocative and evokes something deep within the individual.

point taken in your comments, I agree with your observations regarding bourgoise opinions, and, frankly I find the term 'Del Boy Porn' to be offensive in that it belittles the efforts of the working man which is why I put it in quotation marks, although Im sure Andi didn't mean it to be demeaning.
