At MK Printing we have had several reports from business woman who have recently had a spate of silent and nuisance calls. The only common denominator between the women is that they all attend business networking events.
Silent calls are typically not malicious but more likely to be marketing calls and even faxes. Regardless of the call?s orientation, they are annoying and can be unsettling especially if you work from home.
There are several step people can take to prevent unwanted calls;
You can resister with telephone preference system by calling 0800 398 893 who will take your number off lists supplied to marketing companies.
You can plug in a fax machine to see if you are receiving faxes as opposed to calls.
You can report the calls to BT (or your phone provider), this should be done before contacting the police.
For more advice you cal contact BT on 0800 661 441 for free advice and information.
At MK Printing we recommend you are careful when handing out business cards and the amount of personal information you put on them. Instead of having a personal numbers you can register with a call answer service who will provide you with a number and then will who forward you emails regarding received calls. If you are working from home then we suggest either purchasing a non-geographic number such as 0870 or only including an email address.

Re: Phone warning to women in business
A friend of mine got a load of these over several days, sometimes 3-4 an hour..
He called BT who said "it's Barclaycard".
It seems that the credit cards now like use their computers to harrass anyone a day or two overdue.
