Hi
Not sure if this is the correct forum, but does anyone know the rules around taking topless / nude pictures.
I've been approached by a 17 year old to do topless and nude, with her mother's approval. It sounded warning bells.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Jamie

Don't shoot anyone in a pose that could be presumed risque until they are 18.

So I suspect the definition of risque is probably open to interpretation. Didn't the Sun and Star publish topless pictures of Sam Fox and some other girls when they were 16?

Re: PHOTOGRAPHY LAWS
If I remember, the thought police had the laws tightened to make anything that could be considered a "sexual" portrayal illegal under 18. Of course the definition of "sexual" is as open to interpretation as "obscenity".

Re: PHOTOGRAPHY LAWS
Actually, the law is slightly more ambiguous, but the advice is sound. It's not worth the risk.
The recent story involving the exhibition of photographs by Nan Goldin (part of the Elton John art collection) shows this to be true - the photo that caused an investigation featured a young girl sitting with her legs apart and not wearing any underwear. The lack of sexual intent (and the reputation of the photographer) meant that the photograph was not considered indecent, thus not illegal.
The Sam Fox etc. pics are technically illegal despite having been taken before the law changed, but papers like the Telegraph seem to get away with printing pictures of an under age (and naked) Naomi Campbell because they too are not considered indecent.
The bottom line is the same though - make sure you have seen a model's ID before taking any picture that could even remotely be considered indecent.
