Good, it's about time the tide turned against pirates.

I'm sure it's tempting for a lot of people to get their porn for free and not pay a web site. But if we don't get paid, we don't pay the studios, who don't pay the girls... the industry could be so much stronger and employ a lot more talent if the piracy was cleaned up.

"Illegal File Sharer gets the Porn producer treatment"

At 6am this morning an illegal file sharer had his front door kicked in and his PC, hard drives and DVD collection confiscated for analysis, Joe Soap of Anywhere Drive UK was lead away with his wife and kids looking on plus half the neighbours protesting his innocence "I thought it was all free in the Public Domain and the forum members told me You Da Man keep posting stolen images and movies" You Da Man alright trapped by your ISP via your IP and Email addy and the ISP logs of what you have posted and the sites you have visited etc etc !!!

Just a thought and only a matter of time before we read this.

I seriously doubt the establishment would give a hoot about us porn peddlers but in truth they would if there was more solidarity in the producing community and by this I mean a one world unity of producers chipping in a percentage to get a legal team to make this happen.

Thing is. It will never happen. But it could if we all really wanted it to.

As someone who is simply a fan and has no connection to the industry I think focussing on file sharers as the sole drain on income is narrow minded. I know that there has been a link on here this week to what appeared (to me) to be to a file sharing website - what anyone chose to do when they got there is up to them obviously. I would say that the industry is losing as much income through pirate dvd's being sold on markets, on car boots, in pubs etc and I would suggest that one way of tackling this would be to do something about the lack of licensed sex shops in Britain where r18 can be sold which might introduce competition for business thereby lowering the extortionate prices which are often charged for dvds and which tempt buyers to pirate copies and file sharing websites. I have to do a round trip of nearly 20 miles to a licensed shop as I don't want them coming through the post as I've had loads of stuff opened or vanish. By all means tackle the file sharers but at least increase the alternatives.

You make some good points, but isn't broadband an alternative to visiting a sex shop? If you are able to download from file-sharers, then you can join a pay site - there's no excuse really.

BTW AITA (the Adult Industry Trade Association) is currently lobbying government to have the cost of sex shop licenses reduced, and thereby increase the number of shops. You're right, there are far too few shops in the UK. Unfortunately, local authorities have the right to decide how many shops are allowed to open (even none at all).

It'll only take one of the big boys - say Vivid or Private - to take action. I'm sure it's coming... the days of illegal file sharing may be numbered.

Whether the government, local councils etc like it or not (probably the latter) you are an industry and you do create an income eg VAT on dvd sales which they are happy to collect and would no doubt pursue if they didn't. I am not an expert but there may be restrictive practice laws which might help in increasing shops. Surely by having to apply for licenses, council approval etc they are 'restricting' the adult industrys ability to increase its market.

There is an excuse for not joining a pay site. If you're downloading then you're not getting ripped off by a rubbish site that has awful content that never gets updated, or protects everything with DRM so you have to slavishly sit at the computer to view what you've bought.

I've seen a few members sites that have nothing up but a few medium res galleries and the occasional tiny video clip. Why anyone would want to join those is beyond me.

If you producers dont already do it i would seriously recommend DRM. we are just switching over to it now.. Stops file sharing in its tracks. There are some work around for the real techies but beyond most people.
