Simple & clear sells over too many images because most punters are rather shy to take their time looking at a cover for 5 mins to make out what it is so they go for the easy on the eye which states the obvious. Dirty words also work as it uses the person imagination.

Wow this thread did boil for a bit... sorry been out playign poker all night... seems the court is out... claire and corona want mad crazy busy covers, whilst Video Kim and NineTeen85 seem to like plain covers...

I am going to tweek what we done so far, but in general that is what we are going with... can I also make a point here people which always seems to happen on message boards...

When someone asks for advice, even if given a tonn it is still their decision, if they want to ignore it that doesnt make then rude or arragant... they have just decided to go with their own decision... they may incorporate soem of the ideas, all of the ideas or none of the ideas... it amazes me how people translate that into a bad thing... go figure.

Thanks all anyways for your participation in this thread... I guess the proof now will be in the pudding as they say :)

Seeing the boxes on the rear cover reminded me of my first attempt at a DVD cover. Working at 300dpi isn't easy, and boxes is one way around the problem. I remember doing some research at the time, and the outcome was, the busy'er the better.

Here's the rear of my 1st DVD cover. I was simi happy with it, although deep down, I knew busy'er would be better.

www is down for moment.

This fime put on hold while I had a re think. A second scene was filmed and edited (b/g scene). The story was re written, and 3 extra scenes are to be filmed. The total number of sceness will total 5.

Now time for my tuppence....lol. I started a thread on cover design recently asking how people get into doing this for a living, because the major companies use very good designers. No one really replied to that thread though....

As a designer/typographer... I'd recommend looking at typographic hierarchies. In this instance the words..."PRESENTS" at the top..and "FEATURING" (and "PLUS MANY MORE") are all seconday information...as such they should really differentiate from your primary type - the girls names and your company name (I'd personally swap that for a type with a heavier setting even if you don't wanna properly design a logo yet...and possibly a legible colour such as red but again I've read your response on this)

In terms of photos - on the reverse if the image is going to be small on the website - i would maybe have considered less smaller images - more use of bigger striking images in order to maintain your clean modern theme...

Overall, I'd say youve done a decent job for a first time though, well done, esperically if you're learning the software at the same time...

PS - I'd generally agree with a lot of what Nineteen85 has said though, worth listening to...
