I think the figure is arbitrary and plucked out of thin air, but in principle I think there's some substance to what 1985 has to say. After all, most people would agree that generating traffic on the Internet is largely a question of quality links and a high search engine placing. Where adult sites are concerned, the search engine ranking is perhaps less important than being well "connected".

So "codswallop", no... but 99% wouldn't survive without an affiliate programme - nah, I wouldn't like to estimate a figure but that's a little bit pessimistic/optimistic (whichever way you're looking at it!)

I so dont agree about new starts not needing or bothering with affiliattes... I am just launching a major new network of sites... from scratch to say...

I have sold 50% to a major US established company... who currently run one of the biggest adult networks... they are most definetly going to establish an affiliatte programme for the new network...

There is massive potential havign affiliattes pushign your site/network, no matter how much traffic a company thinks they can generate themselves, affiliattes can generate 100 times as much (proberly more)

I learned that 10% of a million is worth far more than a 100% of a 1000... so to give 50% away is not an issue to anyone with half a business brain... maybe thats why so many UK based websites are under achieving here !

Paul from OT will confirm the importance of a good affiliatte base... There are so many pros from a good affiliatte base, but it appears that those on here dont want to listen ! Fair enough... moving on lol

So far I havent had an affiliate program in place and I am doing well, even though the very kind people at the start of my venture almost 5 years ago said get a good affiliate program in place, I still havent sorted one yet.

I have no doubt that it wil do wonders for me, I am doing extremely well so far so,or rather better than I expected, I can only imagine what one would do on top of how well my site seems to be doing.

It maybe because of this that I havent tried so hard to put the time aside to sort one out.

But even I have to admit that I althought I havent invested no where near the amount bluebird is has turned out and never willl , I still have a site thats making money and that is full working, so not that its bluebirds fault but who the hell did they hire to setup and launch the website that even now it's still not up and running.

Everyone can pick a bad web designer or company that doesnt work out, but they must be pissed

What do you class as "good" I guess that depends on your original expectations... do you make 100 sales a day ? 50, 40,20,10 ??? lower ?

A company like BB with a product like they have could be making 100+ sales a day... I know some sites make much more than that... so thats not pie in the sky !

I do agree the whole online stuff as slowed, I met Steve Lightspeed in america, who told me that Tawny Stone at its prime used to do 800 signups a day... but that was back when there was a small % of the sites that are out there now...

But I honestly believe that both BlueBird and Killergram have great products... ones to give the big US companies a run for their money... I wonder how KillerGram sales improved after they launched their affiliatte programme ?

Not sure who started when... for me I started in 2001... and no not light years at all... I have knowledge I have built up, but dont suggest I know everything... i think anyone who does is sure to fail... hence why I cant understand BB attitude when it comes to this...

It's a very hard slot to sell a UK product... I think the only successful one is OnlyTease that I know of, sure there are more...

To be frank I am done with this thread... as i said BB obviously dont care, dont want to listen... blah blah... maybe they are looking at getting the money other ways... maybe it's more of a hobbie than a business, a tax write off maybe... who knows... may they long pump money into the industry, if they have bottomless pockets then all well and good... maybe BlueBird are the Manchester City of the porn world ?

Totally Agree...

Exposure is all about being well connected - and whilst most afilliate links probably don't generate a sign-up, it increases exposure to those who might otherwise NOT see the site at all.

I agree with totty that any site these days needs an affiliate programme. All the big networks offer an affiliate programme, and I cant actually think of any large sites that dont (other than TAC and Southern Charms, but their business model is different to most sites).

But what any site should never do is rely on affiliates to provide all their sales, but look on affiliate sales as a bonus!

Would be very, very suprised if Bluebird don't offer an affiliate programme in the future.
