What is the best format for phone video downloads

We are about to do some free promo clips for mobile phones so what is the best format to supply them in?
So any advice,also need a couple of guys to download them and try them out for both file size and quality
These will be free to everybody and available to download from our website and will feature plenty of faces that you wont have seen on video before.

I use 3gp. Format isn't as crisp as others but is compatible with a larger range of phones.

Im pretty sure its 3gp if your going for maximum compatibility, on the flip side its also the worst quality wise. The newer phones out there support MP4 which has higher quality but then your then limited to them phones only.

What about divx my phone supports that is there many others as the quality is very good

As Twingo says about going for mp4 format similar to divx the amount of phones your content could go onto is limited.

You may want to do several different formats as I do. Encoding is pretty quick on small clips,

Try 'Intertech Video Converter Pro 2.1' it costs about $20 & works great for conversions into 3GP. If you put it on 'SH900i high quality 240x176, 15fps, 500kbps' you get great DVD quality 3GP films.
We do short films in 3GP on a disc so customers can simply drag them onto their phones, the software also does great IPOD & PSP3 (480p,720p & 1080p m-peg4 films conversions.
