ATTN: Any Mini DV Tape restorers out there

A bit embarassing this.

I recently went through some of my tapes to upload to my PC and found out I was getting interferance - seemed that they were corrupted. I looked into it further and it seems that the camera I originally shot on had out of alignment recording head at time.

I can no longer get this cam-corder back.

Is there anyone out there that can restore or capture the contents from my tapes - obviously being of an adult nature I am not sure who to approach.

I've been here with miniDV and Hi8.
Fortunately I had access to the camera the recording was made on.

I suggest you get spare / old / eBay camcorder and mis-align it to match your tapes.

I assume you can make a new recording and play it back fine confirming nothing on the old tapes has contaminated the video heads.

I have also learnt EVERY time when I load a tape to record say 30 sec and check it plays back as occasionally a tape will not load and hence not record properly.

While I keep most miniDV I transfer to DVD at best (1 hour resolution) ASAP as a backup.

DV great when all working but tolerances seem to be small.

I always shoot with 2 Mini DVs + I also have a HI8 Cam (BRICK! LOL!) - Just out of interest have you tried it in another DV cam or HI8?

Thank you for all the helpful emails. I will bew getting around to responding to them as was rather busy checking my latest videos in a panic to make sure they don't have the same problem,
