I been planning for some time to start a adult members website and have been doing some shoots with models to get content together. Thing is I don`t have lots of time and am just an amature so is taking longer than thought it would to get enough stuff to setup.
Someone said to me you can`t start a new site with less than 30k if you are serious and someone else said it would need 30k just for enough content to go set up with. Ok so I now done only 16 model shoots. I had 30k to do this and so far 3k gone on equipment over 3k gone on models and a few hundred on some studio cost, paying 1k to someone to design and set up a site with management thing.
What am looking to ask is this, should I keep shooting models keep collecting my content together and like take ages before will be ready, or would it be best to buy some content to get enough to start the site sooner? Other thing I was thinking about was what if was to buy a ready made website then I would just need to add content to it and would have enough already for updates for a while but how much would it cost for to buy a existing site and where do you go to buy one, do people sell them or would it only be rubbish ones getting sold? Sorry so many questions there but trying to decide what to do before spending more money.

If you have spent nearly 30% of your budget and are now starting to question whether you have gone about it in the right way should ring alarm bells for you.

Funding and building your website is less than 5% of the costs, the other 95% costs/time will be spent on markeing and getting traffic and purchasers to your website. It may be worth investing time into looking at marketing and what levels of competition you have before going further and also how your site will beat the current credit crunch when plenty of others are struggling.

You obviously have money for a hobby, keep that attitude and you won't get hurt.
You can buy stuff in, but if you do, make sure it fits your site and isn't just generic stuff. If you have Uk site, don't use German porn....
In general the bought in route is one used by webmaster marketers who churn out dozens of SEO maximised themed sites but don't produce their own stuff.
The INCOME isn't down to content - good content is just to get you in the door - its down to your marketing, which is a combination of time and or money and NEVER to be underestimated. If you don't like marketing, see first para. (You can adopt slow burn idea - you plug away and wait for people to discover you. Can be very effective provided you don't NEED it to make money fast).
BTW - you don't say what type of stuff you have - if it's solo/girls it needs to be top notch perfect to have a snowballs chance. If it's stills only, you're sunk.

I still love performing and shooting, and always happy to help people make porn. Esp if tittivation.com will be an outlet :-)

Thanks for replys.
Sorry for lack of info. I have been shooting different shoots, done two short g/g shoots probably do more but rest is solo using toys, some is shot in studios some in models homes. Stills and videos, videos are better than the stills.
What happened was it is something i wanted to do and someone said would need 30k to have a chance, so I had some savings which I started to use knowing that I also had a bond that would mature at end of 2008 which would then give me rest of funds, so i started doing shoots and getting some content together but now that I have the rest of my money I want to be certain of making the best decision before going all in. I really do not know about marketing.
The 1k for website is to design site and do a management system thatlets me easy upload content and easy program to do updates months in advance and stuff, really good system apparently and aswell i get full tech support for a year and they will help set up membership area and everything so is a good price.
Have not bought domain name yet or looked into hosting, was thinking content first no point anything else until got enough content. Did put a bid in for a good domain name that is for sale but not heard back.
