topcat studios closing and re-opening!!!!!!!

Hi all.
Due to problems with my landlord (ie; not having planning permission for the studio and the council planning department putting a closure notice against us!!!!), we have vacated the premises. We will however open a small standard studio in 3 weeks. It will have a reception area, changing room, Nail bar, spray tan and teeth whitening facility.
The studio area will be 18ft by 15ft so no good for production work but OK for glamour and POV styles, and our various backdrops will fit in.
The rate will lower as it is a third of the current studio size and will be better for small budgets and is;;;
?10 one hour
?18 two hours
?30 four hours
?50 all day

And includes 2 flash or 2 video heads, triggers, backdrops, heating and refreshments.
it is also near to Junction 3 of the M5 and 300 metres from Lye Train Station. With a smart real ale pub and restuarant opposite.

The studio also has a proper door to retain privacy, and i will let people i know have it privately, with no one else on the premises, as a turnkey operation.

A general location might help mate!
Junction 3 of the M5 and Lye train station mean very little to me - even though I'm sat next to a friend who bores everyone to death about his routes to work every day and can normally tell me (accompanied by my groans and threats) details of every B-road in the UK. Even he's lost by your description.
We're now discussing Cheshire, Lancs, M62, Liverpool. (You've really set him off now - thanks. I'm getting a lecture of ow to find my way around Liverpool now!)

I'm looking for a studio to rent and yours sounds okay but I need to now where you are.

Forgive the ignorance, coz I know nowt about studios / adult biz at all but how do you make a living out of it?? 50 quid a day isn't a lot

Does anyone actually make money and a living or do most folk do it fir the crack (intentional pun)

to answer you're question. The ?50 is only for the studio use; we also do portrait, weddings, model portfolios, teeth whitening, spraytan etc., so the studio hire is really to utilise it when empty and get a data base of users together.

you are correct in the statement that it is difficult to make money from studio hire. I used to have 4000 sq ft of studio space, and a dungeon with 100 members. But as you will know, ask a tog for ?35 per hour and they can book a hotel room for ?45 for 18 hours; or go to a vacant commercial property, or woodland or their house or the models house.

So booking large studios is difficult.

If i go back to a large unit; i would only go to 2000 sq ft now, and not spend loads on sets that have to be changed when they are all shot out.
I f spent ?13,000 initially just on decoration and room sets; so it is difficult to make it pay.

their are ways, but obviously i am not going to tell everyone here; but i may build up again end of year; just see how the market goes.

Just a note; you cannot get a studio for the 'Crack' We were regularly checked by plain clothed female police, and enquiries made about our porn production activities. A studio gets you nowhere special with the models; Its really doing good work and making the models real money that they appreciate.

In 3 years i have only had one girl come into the studio offering anything for a page 3 photo set and entry to the porn market. She was a druggy and i told her to leave; Desperate girls are always big big trouble!!
