How does it compare to the Z1 I am looking at? I know the Z1 is quite a lot more cash but it seems a really good camera.

Hi Matt,

The Z1 has audio XLR inputs and can be switched between PAL and NTSC other than that they are the same. The lens and picture is exactly the same.

As a footnote - we use Sony Z7s as our main cameras but will always have at least 1 FX1 on set to film (we use the FX1 with our Gekko light).

Interesting, it sounds pretty good. Is it film or solid state recording?
I am interested as I am hoping to start producing stuff for a website I intend to creat in order to make some money!!

It is HDV 1080i recorded on miniDV tapes - output is via firewire 400 (lead included)

the output can also be converted to standard DV if required
