Help please - video conversion aaarrrrgghhh!!!

Post by SpannerProductions »

Hello BGAFD citizens, !bow! !bow!

Wondering if anybody can help me (god I hope so) - I have some recently shot video that i'm wanting to edit to finally get some content on the fledgling spannerproductions site of the rather naughty and Dyson imitating (she never loses suction.lol) !wink! 'Storm' in action - the clips downloaded ok from my JVC HDD Everio Flip cam - but they have loaded onto my PC as MOD files ........!!!!!! but for Picassa or any of the editing software I already have, they seem to need to be in another format such as AVI or WMV etc etc - I recently downloaded a 'so called' freebie program to convert to AVI files, but it appears to have shortened all the movies by about 25% ....... a bit like cutting off the heads on pics - Bloody annoying and Frustrating !idontbelieveit! . so I have deleted all that crap and have reloaded back onto the PC as MOD files once again (all working fine when opening in windows media player as of yesterday evening ) Any advice would be greatfully accepted on how to sort this out and if you have knowledge of a decent (preferably gratis or at the very least Cheap...) bit of all singing all dancing software , I would be extremely and quite possibly eternally greatful and maybe even convince 'Storm' to show gratitude on my behalf !wink!

John mate,
Thanks for the info - are you telling me to just right click on the file - select 'Rename' - change the last bit of the file name from .MOD to .MPG and the job is done !!!!!- cos if thats the case I think I am gonna die of embarrasment / shame and probably 'Storms' size 8 feet after she has kicked me so hard up the arse my teeth start to rattle.......

Yep as far as I know just rename the file. No idea about Picassa but Final Cut Pro imports it fine.

Isn't Picassa a photo app?! Any decent video editing app will be able to import it fine I would think.

Hi Steve

Have you tried running it straight onto Windows Movie Maker, once on there it can saved as a DV AVI & converted to most formats. Give me a bell tomorrow & i will find a way around your problem.
