tog / stills cameraman - experienced/reliable

Post by Jardine »

For anyone who's needing high end portfolio shots; web/print/posters OR studios/producers requiring an experience on set stills photography.

Use canon 1Ds, full frame sensor (BIG results!) and shoot through top grade glass.

Have a good eye, skilled with natural and studio lighting and here to chance my arm on the advice of a friend.

Good rates, quick turn around

Hi Jardine and welcome to the forum.
I've had a look at your online site and what you really need is some experience with models... which is what you may be trying to get from posting here.
What experience do you have in glamour? (and by the way, this is not me having a go - far from it mate, I'm just asking questions and offering pointers)

I trained in industrial and architectural work and look back on things like that with fondness because glamour is the hardest thing a 'togger can learn.
The thing that nobody ever realizes (and that includes photographers in other disciplines) is that no other field requires a 'togger to produce a consistent stream of images in numbers in the hundreds for every job. A stream of images that should tell a story - with a beginning, a middle and an end. A stream that cannot be disjointed and impersonal. A stream that must convey seduction and sexuality in an overt manner.
There are no successful photographers posting on this forum at all - only pornographers and that's the honest truth.

Don't rely on having a big camera with great 'glass' banged on the end.
Grab a shitty camera and take 300 great images where you throw away less than 10% and you're on your way in this business.

The good news is that you have what it takes to begin in this business and should offer your services for free until you know what you're doing. But avoid offering portfolio stuff straight off the bat because you'll get nothing in return since nobody in this biz needs portfolios. They may need a free set to update their website with, which you would do just to get experience of working with a person all day and trying to get them looking good 90% of the time.

I genuinely wish you well and agree that your friend was right to send you here first since it's a great place to begin but please note, porn is not art - at least commercial porn isn't, it can't be if you want to guarantee your mortgage repayments every month. So avoid arty stuff and leave that to the fools who strive to appear in FHM for free!

Always bear in mind that 100 nice pix of a girl-next-door with her thumb up her arse - taken with a ?100 hybrid digital camera will sell every time. A single, fabulous, high-end, HQ, superbly lit image of the best looking girl in the world... looking cold and uninterested (because she's concerned with keeping her 'dignity' in this portfolio-style picture) will move no-one. The customers are the only critic and they vote with their pants round their ankles. People who buy sets know this, people who hire girls know this and most models know this.
If a picture doesn't make you want to drop your trousers then it has failed - the only exception is if the picture is part of a story that logically leads up to the images that ring that bell.

Keep going, get experienced and I'm sure you'll do well.
!thumbsup!

Hi buddy, and thank you for taking time to do this..

I've a year's experiencing shooting adult movie stills and porn talent but three years commercial freelancing overall. Most of my main stream marketing is done word-of-mouth but I posted here at the recommendation of a stud I worked with recently. From what I see around I can complete and will get some models to release me images to use for examples.

Best wishes and thanks again, Jamie was right that the folk on here are cool, good people (",)

If "Jardine' is my friend AJ, then I highly recommend him as not only a first rate photographer but also a really nice chap to be around; friendly, professional and 100& genuine. Hmm... Not a bad singer as well! :-) Rico

Aha.
I very much stand thoroughly corrected.
Promote that side of your abilities and experience and you'll do well here and other places.
You also seem to have some good recommendations from recognized people here so that will stand you in good stead.
If you fancy emailing me I have some ideas you might want to try... as long as your not insulted by the suggestion. !thumbsup!
