You need a lot of content to make money from a stand-alone paysite.
I've done both. I make several thousand a month from my paysites and the princely some of about $300 a year from Clips4Sale.
Clips4sale is an easy option, but very few people make any sensible money from it. You only need look at the empty "Our Top Selling Clips" box on many of the "stores" to see how few sales some sites make. You can get a bit of traffic every time you update the "store" but the rest of the time you will only get a handful of visitors a day.
My advice would be to choose a niche, get together as much content as you can and set up a proper pay site.
Thanks for that, I want my own site but I think I might have to sell content in a different way in order to make at least a little money to finance making more content. It seems like a vicious cycle
As for a theme. Stockings and Heels seems to be the way I feel I want to go. I will also want to include a gothic/alt element but that will have to wait I think.
Who do you use for hosting and payment if you don't mind me asking?
I am wanting to stream content really which will help prevent it from being pirated to a certain extent (although not totally obviously).
Thanks for taking the time dude
Matt.

If you want to combine stockings and heels with gothic/alt, start doing it NOW - in that way you have a distinctive niche from the outset.
I use two European companies for my two servers - email me if you want more details - and CCBill for billing.
Your content needs to be downloadable. You'll piss people off if it's not - and they could download it anyway even if you try to make it streaming only.
I always wondered if anyone ever made any decent money on adult work?
I see it as a market place like an arab bazaar with sellers selling the same thing.
Not much different to paysites then LOL
be mindful though Big Matty P..You will need deep pockets, stamina and consistency to surive the harsh world of the internet where you could lose the shirt off your back very quickly.
Its a tough market but if you have what people are looking for you should do ok
I don't have hugely deep pockets and I have a healthy concern about remaining fully clothed with the shirt firmly buttoned up!
I will be doing this with a slow and steady approach to be honest. I am treating it like an interesting hobby for now and as I slowly build more content, I hope to at least break even if not make a huge ammount of money. I will certainly not be remortgaging the house or anything like that!
As for stamina and consistency. I think I have those, the two (I know I know) shoots I have done so far seem to be ok from my point of view. I am mucking about with Finalcut Express to edit them and that is a challenge but we'll see.
I know I can't make a huge ammount of money out of this but I do hope to at least cover my costs with a view to making some money further down the line perhaps? It's a long term plan anyway
Hope you are ok, any tips are always welcome
Take care.
Matt.

I'm open to being corrected on this, but I think you only get payment for video sales on Adultwork after it's been downloaded ONCE already that day...I can't imagine it's a great money spinner.
Yes, you will need plenty of footage to get it started and yes, you could lose money on the venture, but operated properly it will make you money.
I have found that the most important thing is not to give up on it. There were times when I first started UK Girls Downloads I felt like packing it in because I was not making anything from it.
I'm glad I persevered. I now have other business's here in the UK and have property interests overseas.
The latest venture I am looking at is investing in starting up a micro-brewery in France.
