I think you are quite right Kim.
As Ive said I've never had (or noticed) any dip in sales as a result of engaging fans in conversation or dispute, though there was one chap but i knew he'd be back because I had what he wanted (ie the crack reference !happy!) plus rumour has it someone has boycotted my product for being disgusted with my defence of a model I am friendly with who also self harms...But hey
You cant make an omellete without cracking a few eggs eh?
I was discussing this with a fellow producer who suggested I was mad for getting up here and getting involved when i should be getting on with business and remaining in the background and that it could impact on my business.
No doubt certain individuals may agree with that. !laugh!
Is speaking to fans on forums bad for business?

Re: Is speaking to fans on forums bad for business
Hi Kim,
Thanks to the advice of some very nice people (yourself included xx) Storm and I have made some very good friends in this industry either models/producers or fans of storm's work so the forums definately work
One big, happy if slightly dysfunctional family !grin!
She is often contacted by fans via her facebook and other sites/forums that she posts on - more often than not she receives some very nice comments ranging from sweet and romantic with offers of marriage and support (should i ever decide to leave.lol - oh well 3rd time lucky !laugh!) to the other end of the spectrum of offers of doing some very naughty stuff (some of it very tempting.lol).
She always responds in a positive way (especially if i get the chance to proof read.lol) and even those chancers who are less than polite in thier approach are not just 'Dumped' .... cos at the end of the day these guys and gals are the people who view/purchase her work so why put them off completely - also of course the benefit of having chats with fans is that they talk to thier friends who also become fans etc - Apparently storm has quite a little fan club within one particular regiment serving in Afghan at the moment so cant be all bad.
There are a number of models who are so popular and so busy as a result ,that they find it difficult to respond to fans on a one to one basis so they have sites that they keep fans posted with up to date information and I think that should definately be encouraged - Storm is hoping to post a few more regular updates on her own site and with any luck (a completely new site (or 2 !!!!!)) coming in 2010.
So I for one think that chatting with Fans is a good idea - after all if we didnt chat with the fans and find out what they like/didnt like etc - where would we all be without them ?

Re: Is speaking to fans on forums bad for business
Hi Mr Mysterious... I like where your head is at and its true. Someof the nicest people Ive met have come from the business of adult and I try to explain to people we are genuinely nice.
I tried to explain this to Kelly Steele who described me as "creepily" nice.
You can bet I launched a fucking volley at that snide comment as if to say we should be arse holes and arrogant like people she might know in the US. Still its unfair to speak ill of those who have passed. Though i do have my suspicions.
On the topic of us being a but sensitive I know I can be guilty of that from time to time but I can also understand the paranoia and distrust because a lot of people in the porn business are used to being fucked before they are fucked by tv journos and the like looking to do a feature on the business and what not and more oft then not, when it comes to money.
Not forgetting that consumers are also weary of being ripped off as well so all in all there is an element of paranoia about us folk in the porn biz who are not used to the "all that glitters is not necessarily all gold"

The fact that models and producers are willing to chat with fans on these forums is what makes the forums buzz, if it was just fans chatting amongst themselves i dont think it would work nearly as well, and dont forget if you are involved in the adult industry and chat with folks on these forums you are also self promoting yourself or site to the thousands of others who view the forums but may never make a post.
I know Terry [OEJ] has at times had the odd adverse remark made against him on these forums which i very much doubt would have been made to his face, but i guess this is the nature of the internet where anyone can sit behind a computer screen and have their say as they think they are just a username so it dosnt matter. but of course the people you slag off are real people wether you said it as a cyber message or not.
As for the Jimslip where he says the girls on his site are what attracts the fans and not himself i must correct you there Jim, as i know some ladies who love to look at your site just to see you shagg, but i suspect they are really looking at the girls and when i suggested they did the Jimslip challenge they said they would just as long as they didnt have to show their faces, which of course defeats the object unless you just wanted a shagg Jim, and by the way they are lookers !wink!
