Great replies. Many thanks indeed. You know the tragic thing is I was the first person to stream video over 10 years ago in the UK. The quality was terrible but it worked.. ( JUST ) that was using 56k modems too! I had thought about this industry as it was obvious the market would have been huge but back then not knowning anyone and no such things as forums back in those days it was a non starter against normal production work, which, to be fair is what we know how to do.

Ok, so to sum up.. What I see on the internet are many many small cottage industries all selling low volumes of clips as a hobby business?

A girl/boy / girl girl finds a production company or visa versa, no one exchanges money. The videos are made and they both walk away 50/50 or take the material and agree who has rights to sell it where etc? Is that whats going on...?

Of course being in business what I am really interested in knowing is cold hard figures but I doubt anyone would want to give that information away as I can imagine the competition between you guys is rather, stiff.

there is a few ways that you can go about things. First way is if you want to set up your own website. You will need to shoot a tonne of content before launching the site and the shoot on a very regular basis so that you can make regular updates to your site. This can be very expensive to do unless you do it all content share (where no money changes hands between models and producers etc and the rights to the content is shared) but this then means your content is not exclusive and in my opinion carries a much lower value. The other option is to work as a freelance producer for hire. You wont get many girls booking you to shoot for thier sites as most will go with the content share option, however there are still some big companies that buy in work from producers (Playboy TV, Television X, Daring etc). So if you wanted to do something like that, think up a good idea/theme/story for a series (usually around 6 scenes), shoot a pilot (in hard and soft) and take it to one of those companies in the hope of getting a commision to shoot the rest of your series. Once you have your foot in the door of that particular company, you can pitch them your ideas for other series and you never know, they just might commision those too.
