URGENTLY NEED A WEBSITE

Unfortunately, not many in the porn industry want to pay a realistic rate for a website. I'm teamed up with a good graphic designer/ex-model and when I advertised on here offering to do sites, the only reply I got was: "Is this a free service?"

So we do non-porn stuff and that is not great, really, because anyone UK-based, paying UK overheads can easily be undercut by a techo-geek kid from the sub-continent doing it for a few rupees and a bag of rice.

I would never try to outprice anyone. I know that a small fee can sound really attractive but you always get what you pay for... always!
There's also a good reason why those techno-geek kids from sub-continent do it for a few bucks - simply check out their work and the quality.

I think like a lot of other things in the industry there are a too many one man bands, i think a lot of designers need someone there to organize them and take care of the practical day to day stuff like answering emails and doing there accounts leaving the web designer free to do what they do best.

I wish I knew more about websites etc as I love doing things myself, for the simple reason that I hate being let down - as was the case with the previous web guy.

I dont have a problem parting with the dollar, if I am going to get exactly what I want - but then I guess thats how we all feel

I Know what you mean about Hotmail. set your self up with a yahoo account as a back up. alway's handy to have if hotmail plays up which sometimes it can.

Socreative, with the upmost respect, I think you read my post wrong. I meant to say that I wouldn't mind if these adult website companies DID in fact out-price the wannabe time-wasters.

As a graphics/animator/editor/cameraman etc etc .....I know how long it takes to produce projects on a computer, and people on the outside who think they're going to be Hugh Hefner overnight by setting up 'Something...Something...Productions' and asking for you to do it for a mate's-rate haven't got a clue.

By out-pricing the time-wasters, you would cut out these people, and only appeal to the serious producers who could appreciate why you're charging in the thousands.

By all means, quote for bread-and-butter template websites (which everyone does), but also appeal to the more ambitious.
