Fake?

Post by James Roy »

Im guessing i will get told what do you think? But wanted to get an opinion on this following e mail i sent off an enquiry about after seeing an ad:

Thanks for your interest in modelling for our company. Interviews are being held in Edinburgh and Midlothian, and we are looking for Adult Male Models aged 18+. The top end of our age range is 50.

Auditions consist of an interview, where we take your height, build, weight measurements, talk to you about your preferences for work and take photos, face and naked body shots. You will also be expected to perform solo, and we will video this for your portfolio at interview if you are comfortable. The reason we ask this is because we have supplied models to clients for video work before without a test, and the models have been so inexperienced they were unable to perform. The audition will take place in a comfortable and relaxed environment, where you will be encouraged and supported to show yourself at your best with our Resource manager.

We then look at your pics and video, niche market you and set up your profile within our system. We then contract with well-known producers in the areas you have expressed preference, and target their new projects with you as our model. There is a 20pc booking fee which we take from your project pay, apart from that you do not pay us anything and we manage your profile weekly. We reserve the right to ask you to do your profile work for free, as we are taking the time to edit and put this onto out websites send weekly to producers and photographers and keep you in the loop about your projects and work offers. We also reserve the right to decline you for work without interview if we think we cannot sell you to our producers and photographers.

I hope this helps. If you want to go further, txt a face and naked body shot to our resources manager, Paul Smith, on 07*7* 90*2*5, remembering this is for Adult market. If he is happy with you, he will then email you with an application form, you can fill this out and send it back via email to get your interview and audition slot.

Good luck, and we look forward to working with you.

Not too sure I could put a polite enough reply lol.

But basically if you have a profile that is well detailed and have a showreel or like me and a website that has photographs and video clips both of which detail my stats then they would clearly be able to see what im like and would have more than enough info.

I would not reply to an ad like that, but I could see how some young girls coming into the industry might fall for it and get taken advantage of.

But this is only my opinion as I see it.

There are so many sites out there that offer FREE listings so why register with an agency that takes money off what you earn!?

I know Walpole used to charge a booking fee or whatever it was but that wasn't paid by the models, it was paid by whoever booked them direct I believe!

My opinion on agencies is that its work I wouldnt have got on my own so they are taking a % off nothing any money I make is a bonus.

Plus new girls can make alot more money by running themselves exclusive for the first year say, as it will help to push up hype and so possibly demand.

The only rules I have ever had is not to ever pay for anything, if they ask for money up front its a scam if they dont its up to the individual to decide if they want to try and do it alone or are willing to pay a little bit to lose the hassel of searching for work. Again depends on how many other people your agent has on their books as if your one in 100s chances are they wont have time to devote to filling just your diary.

Right there is where I think its fake or the people behind it are so inexperienced that they dont know any better.

How humiliating to perform a solo act to see if you can do it. Any producer knows that this is no guarantee that person is a good performer.

Probably an A1 certified nutter more like.

And I am suspicious of nayone who films anyhting and expects it for free.

Filmed auditions for no pay is wrong and I can see gullible people falling for this

If you cant prove your good through references or a show reel/porfolio I think a quick solo to prove you can do it is fair enough so long as you get to keep what is shot and they pay travel, especially for guys, you need to know you are promoting someone who can do the job your sending them to.

I wouldn't touch this with a barge-pole.
My Dad used to say that if it smells like a fish, looks like a fish and tastes like a fish...

...it's a fish... nevermind how it's dressed-up.

I suspect this is a Haddock of the first-order!

Im curious.

I dont know whither its real or not but if the gender was changed and it was for women to model well .... Ive seen hundreds of casting calls for so call test shoots where the female model is asked to perform solo and no fee is offered and it seems to be ok.

So why the dif ?????

I would be just as concerned.
Why ask anyone to perform solo at an interview for an agency?
I understand the premise of requiring proof that someone can perform a task for any profession but in this industry we have to be extra careful for obvious reasons surely?
So what has jerking-off got to do with performing unless the agency does most of its work in that area?
Why not ask him to perform with a girl?.. since that's the most likely type of work.

I have some experience of this since I have performed myself and the qualifications were as follows:
Rise on command.
Sustain and control for a given length of time.
Come on command.
All done with a disinterested audience of male technicians etc.

If this is what the "Perform Solo" instruction means then why are they unable to couch it in terms that someone like me would understand?
Perform solo???
How about - "Prove that you can achieve and maintain an erection and then climax when asked.

People who purport to be professionals... who then are unable to thoroughly explain the basics of the industry interest me to no end.

And again... I would be equally worried if it were a girl they were looking for. With that in mind I would be interested to know what kind of girl would be daft enough to masturbate for an interview for an agency!!!
Because in my experience it is definitely NOT okay!
