Sony HDV V1E camcorder for sale.

As I am now shooting in a tapeless format now, I no longer require my Sony HDV V1E Pro camcorder. It's like a Z1 but more modern insides and more compact. It's also got a 25p cinematic mode if required. I've owned it from new for just over a year and like anything I own, it's very well looked after. It comes with an extra battery and a wide angle converter lens.

But Jim, it was only a few months back, when I suggested on here shooting tapeless, that you said something along the lines of 'Not 'til hell freezes over''.

Yeah, so I changed my mind, go on shoot me! lol. As it happens, I still prefer storing on tapes, on tapeless I backup up on 3 seperate hard discs in case of disaster. Whereas, I have tapes from 15 years ago all working perfectly.

I travel all over Europe and are fed up with lugging big camcorders about. Tapeless is convenient but still fraught with potential disaster.

Just a suggestion Jim but what about adding either a "Hard Disc Recording Unit" or a "Compact Flash Memory Recording Unit" to the camera for "Tapeless Recording"?

It's more about the size of the Sony camera that's the problem. The links are very interesting. Talking about both tapeless formats and hard disc storage in general though, the problem will be in years to come I think. In ten years storage mediums will be unrecognisable to todays clumpy hard discs. There will be USB flash drives with limitless capacity and compression algorithms that mean your programme takes up virtually no memory.

So if you shoot tapeless now, I think you have to keep transferring (Over the years) to the new formats. The good thing about tape is that if its kept in a safe, dry, place and you have a player, they will last for ever. I don't trust hard drives of any kind as much as I trust tape.

Yes, I am the "Toad of Toad Hall" of porn, always having to get the latest gadget. Anyway, forgive the pun, but I haven't come across Kaitlyn or Scarlett yet, although I can't find a pic of Kaitlyn so I'm not sure.!happy!
