Importing

Post by Jamesie »

I have a couple of DVD's I fancy getting from the US via website, what is the current state of play with customs? Are they letting through or is it liable to be seized? It is "normal" stuff , i.e. group sex and anal etc , nothing violent or illegal. Any ideas or experinces are much appreciated. Cheers guys.

B4 u even start make sure u get region 2 dvd in PAL format or it won't even play if u manage to outwit the customs.

My advise is a buy a DVD burner and download ur own off the net.

But hey that's only my opinion, ask others.

Actually, if he has a Playstation 2, it will play. This is a world-wide region and one of the lads gets his DVD'd from Oz, USA and Europe and has NEVER had a problem with playback.
If he hasn't got PS2, then he should take your advice.
Packages from US are opened on occaision, search the o/t forum about this as I posted a querie yesterday

Actually both replies are wrong.

Almost all American porn DVDs are Region 0 (an absolutely minuscule proportion are region 1) and should play on any British DVD player. From an NTSC DVD, the DVD player will either output true PAL or pseudo PAL either of which your TV set will be able show with no problems. Even some British and French porn DVDs are NTSC as, though European systems can cope with NTSC, NTSC systems find it much more difficult to cope with PAL; so some European companies produce NTSC DVDs to sell to the States and don't bother producing PAL DVDs.

If the films are as you describe, i.e. would not breach the R18 guidelines, customs should let them through.

I'm sick of writing this. Perhaps it should be in the FAQ. :)

Sorry, but they are not very worthwhile if they are wrong or misleading.

It is NOT necessary to have a Playstation, though I don't doubt what was said about the DVDs playing on them is true.

It is totally incorrect to say "make sure u get region 2 dvd in PAL format or it won't even play if u manage to outwit the customs" as they WILL play and nor is it necessary to get a DVD burner, apart from the fact that you are advocating piracy. Therefore it is also incorrect to say "If he hasn't got PS2, then he should take your advice."

Should he not get the DVDs he wants or waste money on getting kit he doesn't need, just to save lasher's hurt feelings about being corrected?

Maybe I should have deleted both the misleading replies.
