The majority of what you have stated is complete bollocks. Net Billing has an automatic cancel facility, just ask Mitch who runs it about the link that you put in. I can if you want actually post it here so that people can cancel instantly.
It is a hurdle to stop people cancelling.
"The line is open from 9.30am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, Monday to Friday"
what happens if the rebill is due to come in on Saturday or Sunday?
"When calling please have the following information to hand:
Username
Netbanx Reference Number (18 digits)
Date subscribed (rough estimate)
Email address"
Say the person does not have all the information requested? Do they have to keep coming back untill they do possibily costing them more $$$?

Re: www.sexclub.co.uk - ripoff merchants
George, what is your problem?
I'm not trying to brush anything under the carpet! By inviting people to email me direct, I'm simply better able to then forward their comments and complaints on to the company who handle the site for us!
And as to the comment that I have responded on behalf of the organisation but have no power to do anything, well, what do you expect? I edit Mayfair and MensWorld magazines. I don't write code or slap web pages together or work in the accounts department of another firm!
99.9% of the people who regularly visit this site know that I try to go out of my way to answer questions and help out, and I'm fairly sure that Alex, Phil and Woodgnome will back that up. I saw a complaint about our site and tried to address it.
I still believe that labelling a website a rip off for something as trite as having a phone system rather than on-line cancellation is insane. Personally, I would much, much rather deal with a human being when I'm placing an order or cancelling something than just relying on a programmer. That way, I can get someone's name and confirmation of the order.
We're talking about a website with thousands and thousands of images on it and over 1000 videos to download. The value it represents to fans of the magazines is immense, but I am not personally involved in the way they bill people. All I want to do is try and get some feedback, so please remember that I'm actually trying to help!

Re: Sex Club lies
Fact is someone somewhere has come up with the idea of having members ring in to cancell knowing many won't do this because of embarassment.
Is it a rip off? Dunno,
Is it good marketing? Maybe,
It's like when double Glazing salesmen come to the door, as soon as you open the door you want to get rid of them but they are very persistant and try to do "the Sell". Ok we can just shut the door on them but when you HAVE to cancell something then you have no choice but to listen to "the sell" first and listen to people trying to change your mind about cancelling.
Please don't try and tell us that the ringing up to cancell wasn't someones bright idea to discourage cancelling. I think we're more intelligent than that!!!

I used to post under my name, David Spenser.
I post under that name because writing: "David Spenser, Editor of MensWorld and Mayfair" wouldn't fit and makes me sound like a complete ego-maniac tosser!
Jeez, give me a break, Frank! And besides, when you highlight my name on here, the email address is clearly displayed!

Re: www.sexclub.co.uk - ripoff merchants
David,
I agree that the site represents good value, based on what people have posted here, and that fact makes it all the more unfortunate that you have a cancellation scheme that is clearly designed to deter people from cancelling.
From previous posts you have made I believe you to be a reasonable person, and I am sure that you will draw this set of messages to the powers-that-be at Raymond Towers.
All it takes is to put up an email address like "cancel@mayfair.com", or an appropriate link to CCBill or whoever you use, and there is no reason why this cannot be done very quickly. In fact, if you would like to give me an appropriate email address, I should be happy to add the necessary code myself (at no charge, of course).
The problem with trying to defend other people is that you end up in the firing line yourself!
Best wishes
George

Hi George,
My God, a reasonable person replying to this thread!!!
I have indeed raised the matter with the folk involved, and thanks for your input.

David Spencer wrote, inter alia:
"I have indeed raised the matter with the folk involved, and thanks for your input."
Glad to hear it. I am sure the site is good enough to succeed on its merits without resort to shenanigans.

Re: www.sexclub.co.uk - ripoff merchants
I was very angry (perhaps too angry) when I posted originally but I still stand by everything I said.
Almost every site you join allows you to save the pictures - you cannot save the "X" pictures on www.sexclub.co.uk.
Worst of all is the telephone cancellation mechanism - if you could cancel until 10PM, that might be something, but, oh no, it has to be through the day (only about three hours too) - my work bars premium numbers and I don't have a mobile (yes, I'm the one person who doesn't) - so it means a call box. Sexclub.co.uk have already had ?30 off me because I haven't made the call.
David, I'm not attacking your photos - though I would say that I would expect more "X" photos in this day and age.
I've not found an American site yet that is cynical enough to expect telephone cancellation. Every other site I have joined over the last five years has had on-line cancellation - there can be no excuse for sexclub.co.uk not following this route (unless they are trying to emulate our good friend DS).
My original aim here was to get a discussion going and to highlight what I see as sharp practice.
You cannot be happy with this situation yourself, David, and unlike most of us, hopefully you know someone you can lobby to make the simple changes required.
If it's still the same in a month's time, expect more on the same subject until someone responsible for sexclub.co.uk realises that the game is up.

Re: www.sexclub.co.uk - ripoff merchants
I might be wrong but I think they did have a cancellation service on the site, I guess that too many people found it easy to cancel!
Be fair though you can't knock the majority of the site.

Re: www.sexclub.co.uk - ripoff merchants
There are at least two ways to save the pictures when 'save as' facility has been disabled.
First, using Explorer look in your Internet temporary files directory after you have logged off and you will find them all there and can copy them to where you want.
Second, but more cumbersome, copy each image using the print screen key then paste it into a graphics programme.
