Best practices for verifying performer aliases and release years when sources conflict?

Post by frinkyrea »

When submitting a correction, what does the community consider strong evidence if sources disagree about a performer’s alias or a title’s release year?

Which proofs carry the most weight (box covers/inlays, tape/DVD scans, trade ads, distributor catalogues, contemporaneous magazines, film lab cues, on-screen credits)?

How should we treat regional reissues or retitled compilations that recycle scenes—do we date by first scene production, first release, or the compilation’s release?

For aliases, is there a preferred way to document that two names are the same person (credit screenshots, agency sheets, interviews), and how do you handle common names to avoid false merges?

I’d appreciate a short checklist so we’re submitting corrections that meet EGAFD’s standards.
