AVN Awards

Post by lovemunkey187 »

In the latest issue of High Society there is a list of this years AVN Award winners and in the category"Best Group Sex-Scene (Video)" the winners are Pat Myne, Jay Ashley & our very own Ashley Long for Assficianado.

Good on yer girl.

Which leads me onto my second point for this post, is it just me or are the quality of the American mags superior to the British ones?
I bought a couple of mags the other day the afore mentioned High Society, Razzle and one of those bargain bags of 3 mags that from about six months previous, in which was a copy of Hustler, 40+ (shudder) and a mag called Teen Angels.

High Society and Hustler had crystal clear pictures and very good looking models, except for one of the models in HS who was the absolutely stunning Aria Giovanni (God, I'm in love with her).

In Razzle there were a couple of decent looking 20 yearolds but the rest were a collection of ropey lookig readers wives (Imo).

40+ I only looked at the first photo spread before slinging that into the bin. Women old enough to be my mum and larger than me just don't do a thing for me.

Teen Angels, a mag I'd never heard of before faired a little better having talent such as Debbie Tomlin (who is no lnoger a teen) and Laura Ranger in a very very softcore lesbian shoot and Valerie/Vicky 8 and Rebecca Irwin who apparently is from Turin, Italy.

The thing is regardless of the models and how much airbrushing and computer altering is done to the images the basic point of the layout and features is crap in the British mags. I'm not expecting in depth interviews with mainstream stars, for that I read Playboy, but I do expect a certain amount of proffesional aura to the proceedings.

This probably doesn't make alot of sense to most of you but I'm sure that there some forumites that understand from where I am coming.

Mags

Post by Paul »

I think that there are many stunning British models. However, the magazine editors/photographers/publishers seem to prefer to publish the girl next door or to publish pix in which the models are not looking their best. A few years ago, Electric Blue published a magazine that was full of shots of models with their eyes shut, looking away from the camera, etc. Thank God it went under.
You look at an American mag and even in the most hardcore positions the women look great. Ours don't. The women are sexy but are badly portrayed - why? Do we secretly hate women so much that we have to make them look bad?

If we ? editors ? seem to prefer a certain look, it's because that's what sells. Just as one example, the Fiesta Naughty 40s mag might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it sells consistently well.

As ever, it depends on what you want. There's certainly enough mags out there to cater for everyone!

Simple fact is that Brit girls are over-rated. There are a few good looking ones who act and look professional, but we have to go overseas to find real beauties in abundance.

Paul, what magazines are you buying?

Certain titles are aimed specifically at men who like the girl-next-door type. Mine aren't. Well, not unless you live next door to American porn stars and Jo Guest (MensWorld), or stocking-clad lovelies (Mayfair).

What about Free Speech!!!

HELP!!! I'm being censored by the moderators of this forum.

My crime? All I said was that on the whole I thought most Brit girls weren't up to much. It is an opinion I hold and just as valid as anyone who says they are brilliant/wonderful etc.

No names were mentioned, nor was I rude, vitriolic or abusive (unless of course saying I thought continental girls were better is now deemed abusive!).

One reason for the superiority of American mags is NOT JUST the photographic style, but the models available.

How long before this post is deleted?

Free speech is an important issue, Abraxas, but this site is not only about but for British girls in the industry. How many of them are going to use the forum if all they find is unfair comparisons with the plastic people from LA-LA land? Most people come to this site and stay with it because they actually prefer the British models. We may not always agree with aesthetics, but the fact is that this site is for the benefit of the models and criticism of them should be couched in positive or constructive terms---not just generalised claims of how American models are better looking.

(As usual, I've probably not phrased this properly, but hopefully you'll get the gist of what I'm trying to say!)

The AVN award winner was Angel Long not Ashley Long.

Penthouse US and Cheri mags are my favourites. Hustler comes in next.
The main difference is not really the models - because we do have great looking models over here who do magazines who may not do videos - but the fact that they use stylists for the shoots which always makes a difference.

You have been allowed to state your opinion in another thread. To repeat your negative opinion of British models on a site devoted to them is the act of a troll. This is why your post was removed. If you don't like that, then tough.
