I havn?t written to Lord Putnam, but I have written to a number of people at Ofcom including Stephen Carter and previously to Patricia Hodgson CEO of the ITC.
Both Lord Currie (Ofcom chairman) and Stephen Carter (Ofcom CEO) have repeatedly said that regulation will be ?joined up? consistent and proportionate. With hardcore available across Europe, from sex shops, through customs and via the internet it is difficult to see how regulation can be ?joined up? and consistent if they don?t deregulate.
Just in case there is room for doubt, I want to make sure that Ofcom get a lot of response from the public in favour of deregulation. Especially when they announce their public consultation on general principles (due very soon). That is why I am trying to get people to write to me so that I can explain what is going on and let them know when the consultation starts. It?s in everyone?s interest to write to Ofcom.
