yes, it is easy but not as easy as having to provide no email address at all. in that respect, introducing registration is a means to an end, rather than the end itself.
we do have the option of invalidating major webmail domains such as hotmail, yahoo, lycos but don't think it will be necessary and have no plans to do so. if circumstances forced us to temporarily to go down that route, it wouldn't affect those members who have already registered with those addresses.
as for the passwords issue, it is a pain and i'd recommend creating one purely for forum memberships if you belong to that many. using a random alphanumeric string of 8 characters should meet the requirements of 99% of boards and pretty much fox anyone who might might like to try and be you for a day.

Yes, you can opt to have your details remembered for automatic login, in which case they'll be stored in a cookie on your PC.

Why not get a members rating system - so that people rate each other. That way it would seem become obvious who can be trusted etc - new people showing up with no ratings would always be taken with a pinch of salt.
Something that shows how often/long the person has been posting, and some kind of system about how good/reliable their comments are seen to be by the rest of the community.

I guess the simpest thing to do would be to register as "flett & katie" with our joint e-mail address, and then sign off as one or t'other. Anything for an easy life!

when you register, a new membership password will be automatically emailed to you.
go to the forum and logon by entering your name and password. you will now see a link called 'My Profile'. click on this and then click 'Edit Profile'.
[warning: you will only see the 'My Profile' link after you have logged on]
on this page you can add/change all of your profile details, including what password you use.
when you're done simply click the 'Save Profile' button at the bottom of the page!
